that make you cringe now but thought you were the bees knees at the time!

Stayed at mum's house at the weekend and spent some time looking through proper photo albums which of course, recorded every god awful fashion phase of the late 70s, the whole of the 80s and the early 90s.
My goodness were there some horrors 😂
The worst was those plastic pink "jelly" bags (and shoes!!) you carried around with a carrier bag as a liner.
And triple denim - jeans, jacket and backpack 🙈

A reversible puffy jumper with Winnie the Pooh on it. I have no love for Winnie the Pooh.

Being just under 5ft and at the time around 5 1/2 stone I think I was thrilled I could get children's clothes that were the same as adult's clothes. I did miss Tammy Girl when Etams closed. Sad at the time but glad now that I couldn't get ra-ra skirts, pedal pushers, shell suits and other 80s monstrosities to fit.

I had a version of the above jumper but mine was Minnie Mouse I think it had a big head one side and lots of little heads the other! Loved it! No idea where it came from it was like nothing else I owned .

Ra-ra or puffball skirts, massive shoulder pads, big permed hair, electric blue eyeliner and Miss Selfridge Iron Lady lipstick,

I never had jelly shoes despite nagging for them but a couple of years ago my DM who must have carried the guilt for 46 years bought me a pair. They are children's size 4, I'm adult size 4 but as they are pink and glittery she has been absolved 😂.

Oh where to start
Skin tight jeans with coloured piping down the sides of the legs, first time they were washed the piping ended up the same colour as the jeans.
Leg warmers over jeans
T shirt with white string vest over the top
White stilettos
Lace fingerless gloves ( blame Madonna)
Shoulder pads in everything including t shirts

The perms, dear god what was I thinking......and cost an arm and a leg for a Redken Day into Night one.

And metal disc belts. Looked like I was training for the Colosseum.

Spiral perm with huge quiff stiff, Naf Naf jeans, plastic rave dummy necklace, Fake Benneton jumper off the market, CK One (the whole school stank if this) those T-shirts that change colour depending on temperature so everyone could see if you had sweaty armpits, orange foundation, pale lipstick that looked like concealer, massive platform shoes, flared jeans that got soaked in the rain.

Puffball skirts. No one looked good in them not even Vogue models. Dress over trousers? Nightmare! Curly perms, shirt-waister and cords. Leg warmers. Even rock bands had those. Thinking Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

There was a huge thing when I was at school for adding appliques to one's bell bottom jeans/trousers. We weren't actually allowed jeans (boarding school) but could get away with coloured denim. Worn with smock tops or cheesecloth shirts....

Anyone remember sasperrela jeans?
