Back pay and carers allowance

Has anyone been through this? I’ve declared it and it’s being investigated but I’m really worried

I earned below the earnings limit. However after a Union deal (which I wasn’t expecting, I’m not a member) my pay was uplifted by £1 an hour. This was November, and I was back paid from April. I declared November’s pay, as with the back pay it was over the earnings limit. However it seems I may have been made retrospectively over the limit for many months with the back pay adjustment.

The DWP have contacted me for evidence. 9 months after the declaration I made. I presumed it was fine as it’s been so long, but now they are looking into it.

I’m terrified I’ll be £10-20 over the limit and the owe loads back it. It would sink me.
