Very excited to start ds bedroom in the next day or so . I will be painting it

I have added pics of the room as always. I think its around 7ft by 10ft

I'm looking for storage ideas?

I also need to get a rug
And light shade.

Bed is staying, curtains staying. Desk going

Low budget of 120. Can push it very slightly.

I don't want 2nd hand things . I'm not against it. It just does not work for me .

What paint are you thinking?? I would probably add some sort of mural wallpaper in a theme he would like, add some fun hooks and shelves around the room for storage so he can display his favourite things etc. I think you need a bit of a theme- that would give you more direction. I think kids rooms are an area you can go wild in with a theme and fun storage. Start with the theme and add accessories from there! x

How old is he? A baby needs not a lot of storage, a toddler a lot as the toys are larger and a pre-teen a desk.

We had the Trofast storage unit which worked well. We also had bookshelves and a wardrobe.

Rugs - if you plan on Lego, Playmobil or a trainset in the room you need a non-fluffy rug.

Have you looked at Dunelm?

By theme I mean eg cars or woodland or camping etc. Then you can can get some kind of wallpaper mural or stickers for one wall and pull out key colours from that onto rest of accessories like the rug bedding etc

I'm already sorting the decorating side of it
I just wanted storage ideas really . But that does not over take the room..

He's 8. No wardrobe clothes are not going to be kept in his room . And no desk . He basically needs toy storage. I really wanted to get under bed storage box/cubes but I need them to be 32cm in hight can't be shorter or higher I think that going to be hard to do

You may not want to do this but I cut the legs off my daughters bed and put it onto of single height kallax cubes - one with 2 holes at the end and one with 4 holes along the long bit of bed - it’s brilliant for storing all of her crap and stops stuff going under the bed 🤣

SummerSplashing · 19/08/2024 20:14

@Imnotbad

i think the ikea kallax is your best option, with the tubs to go in some of them and leave a few empty for displaying his special items.

How's the decorating coming on??

Yeah I have seen that be done but time I buy the amount I need it's going to cost quite a bit . Plus I don't want to cut the bed 😅

Between 8 and 10 mine gave up on 95% of toys in favour of tech stuff....I wouldn't do anything permanent at age 8, their room requirements might change drastically in a year or two

I don't mind if I have to change it in a year or 2 . Even when he gives up on toys will still need storage for thse other crap he decides he wants

Be prepared to chnage the room in 2 years again. He will need a desk then.
