I keep reading and hearing about people off to pick wild blackberries. How do you find the bushes?

I live in Oxford and I heard a lady yesterday saying right I'm off to pick blackberries. I assumed a farm.

Now I'm starting to think there are FREE blackberries that I'm missing out on.

I'm in Oxfordshire and there are loads in the woods around the village - I can't advise about Oxford itself.

Helpful hint. Don't pick the ones near the ground for fear of added dog wee.

There are blackberry bushes everywhere! Practically every country lane, wooded area, side of the road has them. You must surely have seen blackberries growing wild?

Canals are usually a good bet?

You just go out and look for some.

Go to a park or something.

Wander around local footpaths and bridleways. Any parks or common areas that are not too manicured.

My garden is full of them! I’m waiting for the berries to go before I cut them back.

Soak to remove any maggots!
