Have a wander down to Coal Drops Yard, only a couple of mins away and some lovely options there:

This is where I was going to suggest we went to a lovely little cafe last year we went every day of our visit we were staying near King's x

Mrsjayy · 19/08/2024 13:43

I think it was called Gail's

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 19/08/2024 13:44

Gail's is a chain, like an upmarket Gregg's

lucysmam · 19/08/2024 13:46

I have another question if any of you can help with it (we're a bit pushed for time today) - where's best to find a touristy gift for dd2?

Depends where you are going to be I suppose if you are going to be in coal drops yard there is a shop that has fancy tatt can't remember the name of it sorry

HighburyLass · 19/08/2024 13:49

Go into St Pancras Station. Lots of shops there, including Hamleys!

SummerInSun · 19/08/2024 13:51

Was also going to say St Pancreas. As the Eurostar comes in there there are more touristy shops and gift shops

It you have a bit of time go to the British Library

the coffee is really good and so is the food

oh and lots of interesting books to browse 😆

poppymango · 19/08/2024 14:02

Caravan Coffee, by the entrance to Central St Martin's art school, just next to Coal Drops Yard. Lovely 🙂

Original coffee at the British Library. Highly recommend

Londonmummy66 · 19/08/2024 14:14

Second the British Library (which also has a gift shop IIRC)

lucysmam · 19/08/2024 15:01

Thank you all very much! We've just popped back to our hotel for half an hour to charge phones before heading back out so we'll make a plan for tomorrow morning before our train home 😊

I like the place with the sausage shaped doughnuts - Longboys I think. We had to test quite a few to make sure there was no major variation in quality between the different flavours. There wasn’t, no don’t thank me

Coughsweet · 19/08/2024 15:07

Is also in Coal Drops yard

lucysmam · 19/08/2024 15:09

@Coughsweet I know where we're headed for breakfast tomorrow then 🤣

My friend and I have been doing overnight theatre trips and we’ve adopted a pattern 😆

Marmiteontoastgirlie · 19/08/2024 15:29

If you want to have a cocktail tonight the Standard hotel library lounge is very groovy (you can also have coffee there in the day)and Decima the restaurant on the top floor is gorgeous with a magical view of the station.

lucysmam · 20/08/2024 12:52

@Coughsweet you were so right about the doughnuts! Definitely on our list to go back again 😋
