Would this be inappropriate......

I have a knitting hobby and I love it. At my last hair appointment my hairdresser expressed an interest in learning how to knit and wants to knit socks and socks just happen to be one of my many favourite items to knit. I would like to knit a gift for my next hair appointment for my hairdresser.

I googled it about gifts for hairdressers and nearly everything I read online said no gifts and keep it professional only.

Life seems very cold if you can't give a gift to someone based on professional relationships.

I know another professional - a different profession and she gets gifts from her patients sometimes and from patients to show their gratitude towards the help they get.

If she's your regular hairdresser I wouldn't say it's inappropriate. I would worry that she was just making conversation and isn't that bothered. It's part of her job to chat to people and it's probably easier to keep conversation going if she acts interested in whatever her client is talking about.

I wasn't talking about my knitting. I did have a project in my lap but I wasn't chatting about it. It was my hairdresser who first mentioned knitting and said that they would like to learn how to knit and knit socks. It was my hairdresser who was first open about that. Why would a person be open about that and make it up if it was for conversation. Surely there would be some truth in it.

This thread has inspired me to think about taking up knitting again. I haven't knitted since my son was a baby (32 years ago) and I was young, skint and single. I made lots of terribly knitted hats, jumpers, cardis and booties for the poor baba 😄

Seriously thinking about starting again...

Definitely knit the socks! I'm sure she'll be very appreciative. Also, would love to see a pic of some socks you've knitted. I'm not very good at knitting but am now inspired to start again!
