I recently went to Spain and picked up some Melatonin, been sleeping great with it. Am going to Morocco this week. Does anyone know if its available to buy there too? Any other good buys while im there? I picked up Tret while i was in spain too, so any other recommendations for Morocco would be great.

@WhiteTowel I'm in Spain now. What type did you buy, and where did you buy it? If from a pharmacy, did you have to ask for it at the counter?

I would like to try Circadin (slow release melatonin), but can't get it on prescription in the UK until I'm 55. I've still got 2.5 years to go on that wait!

You don't need to go to Spain or Morocco...

I use that too, I really struggle to get to sleep even when I'm exhausted. My youngest has had it before as well.

You can get it from UK meds and other online pharmacies but only for jet lag which is annoying

theeyeofdoe · 19/08/2024 00:13

It's a drug. Do you understand it's actions and interactions with other meds you're taking?

I know it's easy to buy melatonin "gummies" online, but they are unregulated, so vary in quality, e.g. see here: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2804077.

I asked about Circadin, because it is a brand that is clinically proven, but only available to the over 55's on prescription in the UK.

Doggymummar · 19/08/2024 07:17

Piping rock are great. I get the 12mg one. Arrives in less than a week too

TomeTome · 19/08/2024 07:18

Circadian is available on prescription before 55 in the uk. I would be wary. It can give you very very vivid dreams.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/08/2024 07:20

I buy mine from reputable online US pharmacies, it's not illegal to import gor personal use.

Only for jetlag, i.e. short term. My GP said she could only give me a week's supply.

Over 55s can get it for longer term insomnia.

No plenty of people have it prescribed for sleep problems but by a consultant not a GP.

Sallysoup · 19/08/2024 07:28

It's very easy to buy online from US pharmacy sites, no need to hunt for them on holiday 😀

SeatonCarew · 19/08/2024 10:34

You can buy Melatonin in any Spanish Lidl.
