How often do you get through a bottle of hand wash?

Just being nosey. I feel as though I’m replacing the 500ml bottles every few weeks and it’s just me and DH.

Not that often, four sinks and two people, maybe once a year each one apart from the kitchen which might be twice a year.

PNDshame · 18/08/2024 20:57

Kitchen one, once every two or three months I'd say but it's only me who uses that one

The bathroom one once a month but that's used by me and the kids so goes a lot quicker

Hayley1256 · 18/08/2024 20:58

I got through a 250ml once a month in the kitchen and then another one in the bathroom

Ariela · 18/08/2024 21:00

Never, use bar soap, usually Imperial Leather, Isle of Mull Heather soap, or something posh somebody has bought me. Lasts much better than squirty bottles.

bluecomputerscreen · 18/08/2024 21:00

doesn't everyone re-fill them with bubble bath?

Existingbudhet · 18/08/2024 21:01

Rarely, also use bar soap as much nicer and no plastic bottle to add to the billions already in existence

DeliciousApples · 18/08/2024 21:02

I tried the refilling with bubble bath but it left my hands really dry.

A 250ml bottle in the kitchen lasts me about a fortnight.

Double that in the bathroom.

That's a lot IMO, but it all depends of course how many people are using it and how often. One will typically last my DH and I for maybe 4 months...

I will from now on! I use bars of soap sometimes but I hate all the plastic waste from these dispensers.

Get a gentler bubble bath and use hand cream.

Ifailed · 18/08/2024 21:12

I just use washing-up liquid. A lot cheaper and does the same job.

The80sThe80s · 18/08/2024 21:19

I converted to bar soap and much prefer it.
I use a magnetic holder so it doesn’t get soggy.
I love choosing a new smelling bar and they last ages.

WTF? 😆

Normallynumb · 18/08/2024 21:28

I live alone but I'd say every 3 weeks in kitchen and around the same in bathroom
250ml bottles
Due to disability I can't hold bar soap

LiftyLift · 18/08/2024 21:31

I buy the refill bags now to save the plastic waste. Works out cheaper too.

Wavyhairflop · 18/08/2024 21:34

Five litres at a time from Amazon lasts for ages. I keep a funnel to refill kitchen and bathrooms easily.

Containergardener · 18/08/2024 21:36

For an eco friendly option you can get tablets that dissolve in water and buy a cheap dispenser for a eco alternative to liquid soap, is a "froth" type soap.

@Jk987 or just use the stuff designed for handwashing.

Bizarre, bubble bath isn't designed for washing multiple times a day & it's not anti bacterial.

@Sparksi I can't remember, just me here but a liberal hand washer! It seemed to last for ages... I far prefer hard soap though.

Abuseandptsdsurvivor · 18/08/2024 21:38

2 bottles a week, one in kitchen one in bathroom. 2 adults 4 dc.

Doggymummar · 18/08/2024 21:40

It seems to last forever

SellFridges · 18/08/2024 21:41

We also buy the five litre jugs from Amazon or Ocado. Probably get through a couple a year I would say across four dispensers.

Colddipinthemorning · 18/08/2024 21:45

We use soap, cheaper, better at cleaning your hands and no plastic waste. I think one day we'll look back and wonder what on earth we were thinking with things like liquid handwash, disposable wipes, those beads you put in the washing etc

lljkk · 18/08/2024 21:51

We buy 5 litre bottles, refill from that. I don't know how often, but one 5 litre refiller seems to last years !

Bjorkdidit · 18/08/2024 21:54

bluecomputerscreen · 18/08/2024 21:00

doesn't everyone re-fill them with bubble bath?

No, we use the shower gel that we get at Christmas that isn't the one we like. Smile

That does sound a lot OP, but I have no idea how much we use. Are you pumping out too much?

LilianaVikavanovich · 18/08/2024 21:54

Have bars of soap in the bathroom , and one of the big ( TK Maxx ) liquid hand soap in the kitchen which lasts about a year ( but there’s only 2 of us )
