Am I just anti social or….??

A good friend asking you to go out and do something together, but she’s also asked a third person Ive never met to come along. I know this sounds awful but I’m quite an anxious person and find meeting new people in social situations uncomfortable. I am not being being horrible but I’m not really interested in this other person, so I’m going to back out. Am I being unreasonable? I just wanted to spend time with my friend and not have to make small talk with this other person.

"a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet"
Nah only kidding I'm with you

I am totally anti social so the worst person to comment but I would back out if an unknown 3rd person was tagging along. 😂

I am exactly the same in this situation. I suppose it's quite normal for people to get invited along and it's sociable but I always feel like I've been tricked into socialising - when, like you say, you just want to catch up with a friend.

I would back out too but I'm sure if you did go you'd have a nice time and it is nice to meet new people (even though I can tell myself that a thousand times and still not believe it!)

It wouldn't bother me but I've got a friend who would absolutely hate this

Thank you so much. My friend is a drinker (socially) and from what she’s said, her other friend is too. I’m not drinking at then moment so that would make it even worse for me. I backed out. I’m sure she’s annoyed but I couldn’t do it!
