Would you like weekly rotas?

I've started a new job as a food and beverage assistant.
Found out we get a weekly Rota
No set days or hours

This wasn't explained at my interview and I'm wondering how I ever plan things now
Appointments /meeting friends

Stupid things like booking my hair appointment
Wednesdays we find out our shifts for the following week
It's making me question if I have done the right thing

That doesn't sound ideal.
What's the range between hours?

Anything from 30 to 40
This weeks rota they have someone finishing at 11pm and then back in at 11am next day

It's not something I'd cope well with. I like to be able to plan stuff.

I've done patterns like a week of earlies then mids then lates on a 3 week rotation.

The only time I've done random shifts like that was on a bank contract where I could pick and choose.

I'm not sure if it's going to be the job for me
I'm used to weekends off too
