What size school shoes?

Last year DD was measured and bought 9F shoes from Clarks.

Yesterday I measured her with the Clark's foot gauge so I can buy online and she came out as a 9.5H. then I tried the Start Rite online tool and it said 10.5 G.

I'm thoroughly confused and it's even worse for DS whose shoes from Clarks last year were 1.5G and I measured him as 1.5H yesterday with the foot gauge.

Shoe gauges are just a guide. Can you take them to the shop and measure their feet. Clarks and start rite shoes come up different to each other. If you can't go to a shop, try using a piece of paper and draw around their feet and then measure the piece of paper

Yes I can take the to Clarks, I just didn't really want to buy from Clarks this year, especially for DS as he wants lace ups and Clarks have very little selection.

Start rite are half a size larger than Clarks measurement.

Go to an independent shoe shop that stock several brands and get them fitted.
It doesn’t matter what size they say they are as long as they are a good fit!

I don't think there are any independent shoe shops left around us unfortunately.

Interesting. Are their shoes half a size smaller to compensate?
