Advice about massages needed!

I’ve been for a Thai Oil full body massage today.

it was wonderful, I feel lighter and great, however OMG it hurt! I had knots in my neck/shoulders and pain all over wherever she massaged me. It even felt like there were ridges in my forearms that the lady was trying to remove/flatten.

does anyone know what this is? What causes it?

am I just decrepit or is this normal?

Massages can sometimes hurt due to the pressure used by the therapist. This is usually the case with deep tissue and sports massage though. Did she ask you if the pressure was OK?

Yes she did and it was in the sense that I know pressure needs to be used to break down the knots (at least that’s what I believe, happy to be corrected) and so I put up with the pain in the hope I’d get a gain!
