Painting and decorating

We moved into our current house over 18 months ago and have only now just getting around to sorting things out.

Painting one the of DC's rooms and I can see it has been primrose yellow, then a corally terracotta shade, and then the selling house ubiquitous magnolia!
It's an early 90s 'executive' house (remember that term 😆) in a boring old suburb so nothing too shocking or unexpected!
Have you come across anything interesting about your house while redecorating?
Would love to peel back layers of wallpaper and reveal some proper history!
Does anyone else quite enjoy painting and decorating or do you prefer to leave that to the professionals?
I find it rather therapeutic as long as I'm left to it - crank up some good music and I'm in my element 😄

My siblings owns an 18th century house, they have found all sorts of interesting bits of wallpaper and paint while decorating.
I enjoy doing the painting and wallpapering and I'm good at it, I do an equally good and in most cases much better job than those I've seen done by professional decorators in the houses of friends and family. I'm very good at prep and spend time on it, that's what lets a lot of people down. However, because of that I am slow. I listen to radio 4, radio 3 or podcasts all day long while I'm doing it.

Oh yes the prepping and planning is totally the most time consuming part of it all, but essential for a good job as you say.
I find the slap dashness of some so called professionals rather alarming!

How fascinating for your siblings 😀

First coat on now.
