Usual topics I like -

Politics - I’m missing For the Many with both Jacqui and now Iain away
World news
Entertainment - currently like The Rest is Entertainment one
Light/daft

I enjoyed things like The Missing Cryptoqueen.
Like true crime if it’s well done and an expert involved.

Please help!

Also enjoy Dish for celeb interviews and food chat.

I've just started listening to Behind the Bastards, looks at the usual suspects (Hitler, Bin Laden, Stalin) but also some more recent villains- Weinstein, Keith Raniere, Griselda Blanco. Looks at their lesser known sides/interests/enablers. I'm about ten episodes in and enjoying it so far!

ImRonBurgandy · 17/08/2024 17:27

I assume you've tried The News Agents?

If you like Grace Dent then try her podcast Comfort Eating for food/celeb chat.

MoonAndSaturn · 17/08/2024 17:36

Off Air with Jane and Fi. Combines lots of the themes you like.

Agree with PP about Dish. I also like Table Manners as a food/celeb podcast

Porridgeislife · 17/08/2024 17:40

I’ve recently discovered Celebrity Memoir Book Club and am really enjoying it. They review celeb memoirs (funnily enough). Mix of entertainment and sporting figure books.

cheapskatemum · 17/08/2024 17:41

Empire with William Dalrymple?

CraftyNavySeal · 17/08/2024 17:43

Blocked and Reported
Mother Maiden Matriarch
A Special Place in Hell
Modern Wisdom depending who he’s interviewing

Mypoorbody · 17/08/2024 18:02

The newspapers from different countries can have pretty good podcasts - eg New York Times or Times of India.

Donna1001 · 17/08/2024 18:04

No such thing as a fish
british scandal
Legacy
bad people

MathsFiend · 17/08/2024 18:05

I quite enjoy the Allan Carr podcast

Empire with William Dalrymple?

This is amazing, totally recommend!

powershowerforanhour · 17/08/2024 18:08

I saw a recommendation here for The History Chicks and have listened to two- the Marie Antoinette and Laura Ingalls Wilder ones- so far. They were quite good and I'm going to listen to some more.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 17/08/2024 18:08

In the light/daft category I've been enjoying Josh Widdecombe and Rob Beckett parenting hell. They do two a week one is just them chatting about random stuff and the other they have a guest on who is a parent and it tends to focus more on the guest and their life/anecdotes. Some of those are really good, but I actually largely prefer the episodes where it's just Josh and Rob.

I also really like Lady Killers by Lucy Worsley on radio 4/sounds it's about women who've killed but with a social/historical context

Unescorted · 17/08/2024 18:11

Assume nothing Femicide. 8 Steps to Murder.

Absolute required listening for anyone going into a relationship or in a relationship. Keep the women in your life safe by sharing far and wide.

Frosty1000 · 17/08/2024 18:12

I'm enjoying the for the many episodes without Iain and Jacqui actually. Anyway others I listen to are Electoral dysfunction, the rest is politics, the rest is money, newscast and cross question for politics/news.

I quite like the interview ones such as full disclosure and the Iain dale all talk.

sliced bread is good also for light stuff with a science kind of theme.

waryandbored · 17/08/2024 18:15

Rob Brydon has a lovely podcast where he chats to various famous people. It’s really easy listening and he’s a great host.

Off Menu is a really good food podcast hosted by Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

Lovetotravel123 · 17/08/2024 18:17

The Midpoint with Gaby Logan is good.

theDudesmummy · 17/08/2024 18:18

I listen to No Such Thing as a Fish, The Rest is History, The News Agents (UK and USA), Cautionary Tales.

Also some finite ones eg from the BBC, such as I am Not A Monster.

I love parenting hell! Esp the episodes with just the two of them. So funny. You don't have to be a parent of young kids to listen, my babies are in their twenties.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 17/08/2024 18:21

@brieandbacon Rose is away 😂

waltzingparrot · 17/08/2024 18:28

Life Changing with Sian Williams
Different with Nicky Campbell

Cardamomandlemons · 17/08/2024 18:31

The political party & british scandal (both matt forde).

Bjorkdidit · 17/08/2024 18:39

I've been listening to My Mate Bought a Toaster after reading about it on here a few weeks ago and I'm hooked.

An interviewer talks to comedians about their Amazon purchase history but its very entertaining.

Perhaps start with a featuring people you like as there's a huge back catalogue.

If you like books there's the Weirdo's Book Club with Sara Pascoe and Cariad Lloyd.

History's Secret Hero's about mostly female spies and resistance fighters with Helena Bonham Carter is also good.

SisterMichael · 30/08/2024 22:27

I’ve added all these to my library to try thank you 😊

@Frosty1000 i am enjoying the new episodes but I’m just missing the familiarity and ease of Iain with Jacqui.

@waryandbored the Rob Brydon one is a joy, he’s so good. Thanks for that one
