What is it about a dancefloor...

That makes it conducive for snogging.

Just been thinking about the psychology behind it. What is it about a dancefloor, music , dimmed lights that makes people want to kiss an acquaintance or even a stranger?

Obviously not judging and saying it's bad. But I'm just thinking about it this weekend. We've all done it at some point!

I think the formula is:

Alcohol + physical proximity (i.e. touching while dancing, sometimes sensually) + everyone looking their best.

Well I haven't! I have been on plenty of dancefloors in my youth but sadly (?) that never happened. I did however love dancing!

I love a good snog but have never kissed on dance floor or anywhere public.
Don't want an audience! 🤣

Dancing is sexy. It's physical, gets your heat going, makes you feel good. There's probably something ancient and tribal about attracting a mate as well. You can see it at the end of dances on Strictly when there's a split second of "are they going to kiss?!".

I was just thinking back to my university days TBF.

It's just one of our social norms. If it were socially acceptable to eye up and start snogging a stranger in the supermarket or at work, you can get people would be doing it there too.

MeinKraft · 17/08/2024 15:05

Plus people in clubs are usually quite pissed so their inhibitions are lowered.

Which makes me curious about what people are thinking about deep down.
