Commuting backpack

I have quite a long commute and need a lightweight backpack with lots of pockets but that looks nice. I've been using my daughters old schoolbag up until now. Would be grateful for any recommendations please.

Look at Roka. Lovely bags, very well made and comfortable to carry. Lots of different colours to chose from.

Doughnut Bags - loads of variety and well made. I love mine tbh 😊

I actually get a discount on these but wasn't sure if they had enough pockets etc.

I love my dakine garden 20l backpack. Few colours/patterns on Amazon but cheaper here

Good side pockets for drinks/brollies and lots of other compartments as well.

eternalopt · 17/08/2024 13:25

I have a Roka too, but don't find that as useful in terms of compartments. Also, Patagonia do good ones but a bit expensive.

Nordace sienna is fab!

Greyrockin · 17/08/2024 13:28

I have a couple of Nordace backpacks that I use constantly. One for when I'm lugging my laptop around and a smaller one for everyday use. Lots of pockets and they both have little chargers too which can be useful.

Nordace sienna is fab!

I have the sienna, I've had a few people stop and ask me where I got it.

RosieFlamingo · 17/08/2024 13:30

Nordace seinna is amazing, had mine years and use it every day and it still looks brand new.
It's very comfy to wear, I carry loads of stuff and walk lots too.

I've got a Cabaia. I love it

Another vote for Roka. I love them.

ScoobyDoesnt · 17/08/2024 13:51

Me too for Roka - I have a medium Canfield, and use it to cart around my MacBook, iPad, notebook, chargers, water bottle, purse and so on! If I’m overnighting in London and don’t want to juggle as suitcase, I can also stuff clean undies, toiletries and a change of clothes in too.

It’s like a tardis!

Maybe a bit juvenile but I love mine from Seventeen London

I have this one and love it - it's in the sale at the minute too! I especially love the little top half pocket - keys, phone, ear pods and cards - and the side zip pocket for my iPad. The green is easy to keep clean too.

You should try Kipling. The plain ones are quite smart... I just remove the monkey keyring.
They have loads of pockets and organisation.

PolkaStripeShirt · 17/08/2024 19:24

I got a Knomo on Vinted for £10. Great condition.

WickieRoy · 17/08/2024 19:36

I have one of the bigger Roka ones for days out with the kids, and a Samsonite laptop backpack (similar to the Nordace ones) for work. Happy with both, but they're very different.

exaltedwombat · 17/08/2024 23:01

This isn’t really about brands and labels, is it? Just go to a shop that sells such things and pick one that suits you.

That was my point! I know shops that sell lots of packs. Brands? Neither know or care. No need to be rude.

Joking aside if you have a TK Maxx nearby it would be worth a rummage...

SD1978 · 18/08/2024 00:11

@KenAdams, another vote for nordace. Well made and hardy, the USB charging port can be quite Mandy depending on what you're doing, many compartments.

I love my Knomo (I think I have the Beauchamp) - have been using it for 5 years and it still looks like new.
