Vinted - have I been blocked?

I've had my eye on a lovely pair of shoes and made a reasonable offer to the seller which was declined, absolutely fine I didn't proceed as they were out of my budget.

This was a few weeks ago, I left them in my favourites and today got notified that the seller had reduced the price and was now asking for a lot less than I offered. I immediately went to buy only to find that I'm not seeing either a buy it button or make an offer. I pressed to contact the seller but just got an error message.

I've tried other items and definitely get the buy it button, but not with these shoes.

Have I been blocked for making an offer? If that was the case would I even be able to see the item?

Any vinted experts on here than can explain what's going on. I really would like to buy the shoes 🤷🏻‍♀️

No you haven't been blocked -
Same thing happened to me last week as a seller and the buyer couldn't see a buy it now button. They messaged me and we went back and forth a bit and in the end I had to edit a different item too include the one she wanted and change the price to be correct.

I think it was some glitch and something to do with then postage options - she only could do one specific one.

Yes you might have been blocked . This is what vinted states:

"The blocked member will no longer be able to send you messages or buy your items. Also, you'll no longer be able to see the member’s items."

This would explain why you can't buy or message her, it doesn't say you won't be able to see her items, but she can't view yours.

I had a similar glitch this week as a seller. Like a previous OP it was something to do with postage options and it was annoying because whilst we were trying to sort it out between us, someone else bought the item they wanted as part of the bundle. I know that's the way these sites work but still felt quite bad about it.

Can you still her her profile and other items? If you can, sounds like an issue with her postage options preventing you from buying. See if she can change them and the buy option will probably appear.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 16/08/2024 14:23

OP can't message the seller though, you were both able to message the seller and discuss? This is why I think she's been blocked.

Lavendersquare · 16/08/2024 14:30

I can see all her other items and can build a bundle, but I can't buy that either. It's really bugging me.

What was your reasonable offer, did you go in 40% off on a newly listed item? What's the vinted members name?

Princessfluffy · 16/08/2024 14:58

I sometimes block people who make lowball offers, is this what you did?

Lavendersquare · 16/08/2024 15:05

No I didn't offer a ridiculously low offer I offered £25 on a pair of shoes that were listed for £28, they had at that time been listed for 3 months.

At the time I offered I didn't have enough in my Vinted balance to cover the shoes and postage so offered slightly lower. The seller declined which was fine. I've been trying to be strict and only spend my balance and I struggle with shoes so often end up with ones that don't fit, so I chose not to proceed.

The seller has now dropped the price to £22 which is less than I offered, so my offer was definitely not too low.

I had this and was definitely blocked (which seemed silly when like you they then reduced the price to less than I’d offered 🤷‍♀️) In the end I had to get DH to buy on my behalf.

Moltenpink · 16/08/2024 15:13

Seems odd to have blocked you then, unless your messages to her were

Ineedaholidayyyy · 16/08/2024 15:20

@Lavendersquare that sounds like a reasonable offer .The seller might have just been having a bad day, it can get annoying as a seller when people constantly under offer on your items, but your offer sounds fine, especially as it was listed a few months ago.

If you really want the item, the only way around this is to see if someone you can know can purchase on your behalf.

Chewbecca · 16/08/2024 15:41

I would ask a friend to try buying them and see what happens.

trader21c · 16/08/2024 16:15

Though offers are all part and parcel of Vinted and sometimes as a buyer by the time you have priced in the fee and postage it is more than in the shops where you have a right to return! So often sellers need to be realistic and accept offers if they want to sell! I buy and sell …

I only used the offer button, definitely no hard luck begging stories.

Have I been blocked. I keep getting the message risk blocked transaction. I don't know what this means. I've contacted thee bank and they say it's nothing to do with them and I can't get hold of vinted customer service

Shinyhappypeople25 · 19/06/2025 11:35

On Vinted I'm experiencing a lot of accepted offers from me not following through. I state in my profile that "time wasters will be blocked"!! I understand the policy but imo, if I don't intend to buy a item, I don't make an offer! At least with Ebay that policy doesn't allow it as they attempt to complete the transaction. I guess if the buyer is a time waster Ebay probably notes the account. 😊
