Does anyone on here make jewellery?

My daughter has a pretty necklace which has her name shaped out of what looks like wire on a silvery chain. Unfortunately the chain (maybe not silver!) has snapped so it can’t be worn.

I can’t imagine it was expensive but it’s pretty and quite unusual. What would I be searching for if I wanted to get a chain to attach each end of the name section to?? Something with obviously a clasp at the back. I was thinking of Etsy or EBay but it’s not just a plain necklace I want, it’s something that the name bit can be clipped to?

Oh now this is lovely to read after the nonsense about CFs on aeroplanes making me despair. There ARE good people. Just need to know where to look

As a professional Jewellery maker I’d be happy to fix this for you for free & have sent you a PM. There’s no point spending money & stressing when I can do it very quickly & professionally for nothing :) Happy to help 😊

Oh my goodness, that would be absolutely amazing-thank you so much!

I will go and find your message!!

This place really does restore your faith in human nature ❤️

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but there seems to be a lot of knowledgable people on here who might be able to help.

My daughter loves this necklace, but she wore it so much it's broken 😔She was so upset, that I would love to be able to fix it and put it in her advent calendar as a Christmas surprise! Trouble is...I have no idea how to begin mending it... Does anyone have any suggestions please? X

Hi Cleverclocks
thats a tough fix because the beads are strung & knotted. Once the string snaps the only way to fix it is to take all the beads off & re-string. This is not something you could ‘have a go at’ yourself I’m afraid.

one option would be to take some of the beads off at the broken ends so you have some string to tie it all back together with. However this would make the necklace slightly shorter.

If you’re not confident in trying this yourself you can post it to me & I will do my best to mend it for free. You can PM me if you like :)
