Just wondering if your child is 10/11
What do they do with their friends when they have a friend round?
Because some of them don't really 'play' anymore do they
So just wondered

Play a bit of football and then some sort of gaming, Xbox etc. occasionally go down to the park or shop.Very rarely, make popcorn or cakes.

They play ball games like football or bounce on the trampoline.

They might play a computer game or go for a walk together to get some sweets.

They might go to the nearest park and play in the equipment there.

Mostly they are gaming on the x-box/Nintendo, making YouTube style videos or animations and playing football or basketball outside. There’s a friend that DS swaps football and Pokemon cards with and there’s one friend who brings a lot of very fancy pens and art materials with him and they draw together. Sometimes they actually just hang out and talk.

And sometimes they do Lego together, play hide and seek, race round the house making a lot of noise or play a board game, especially if there’s younger children round too.

Depends. My DD and her friends create music videos, learn and play music on the keyboard (then film it). Practice make up, do gymnastics in the garden, go to the park, snap/whatsapp their school mates etc.

Depends on the friend. I don't allow screens when friends are over cos mine get too much imo.

All friends like the trampoline and pool and nerf battles.

Friend A likes playing with toy soldiers and army vehicles. Also dressing up as ninjas/soldiers and running round the house and garden with toy guns.

Friend B likes the duplo and mini skateboards.

Friend C likes any running/chasing game.

DS2 is 10 and I really want to reduce down the quantity of toys he has when we move overseas next year cos although there are some firm favourites he still plays with, he is definitely moving away from toys.

My DS is 12 but still does similar which is trampoline, chucking a frisbee/rugby ball around, possibly kick about in the park, go to the shops for sweets. All this alongside a hefty dose of phones/ipads/xbox. Occasionally he has baked a packet mix cake with friends which they loved but was pretty messy. He has one close friend who he’ll still play Lego with (this is a primary school friend, who we see a lot as a family, he wouldn’t suggest it with secondary school friends).

Making their own pizza was always popular.

Sadly, no one seems to send their child anywhere at this age without their bloody phone. 😩 So they mostly just sit on their phones. If it’s not raining though, I chuck them outside where they don’t get signal or wifi and make them come up with something to do. We have a large garden and farm though so lots for them to do. If they’re staying the night, I tell them to put a film on. Last friend who was over, they watched Jaws. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Just turned 11 year old...Xbox, watch films, (we use Google family link so limit screen time to 2 hours per day). Go to the park, local shop, bike ride, bus ride to town and eat out, water gun fight, Bushcraft, build a den/treehouse/zip line
