Help. Smelly fridge

7 replies

It's been scrubbed several times, shelves and seals removed and thoroughly cleaned. The pong seems to be coming from the little drainage hole at the back. Bicarb and vinegar have been poured into said hole and the smell still returns a day after. Has anyone any suggestions? I'm seriously considering buying a new fridge.

You need to get a tiny bottle brush or a piece of twisted wire and give the drainage hole a good clean.

@zzplex

I've tried that. Still stinks 😔

I had this and sadly had to get a new fridge. I’ve read it can be quite a common problem 😢

Cut a lemon and place it in fridge, should absorb odors.

It will be the drip tray where the drainage tube leads to. You need to unscrew it and clean it.

Yes it’s the drip tray at the back of the fridge.

You have to take the fridge out, get round to the back and the drip tray will be at the bottom.

The problem is they are always placed near the motor for the fridge that will have some heat…so bacteria grows in the warm water.

A good clean with bleach and put in back in

@ Terea
Have put an egg cup of bicarb near the hole
@Twistybranch
Haven't tried that yet. Thanks for the suggestion.
