So DS 4 years old has a tooth abscess from a tooth that got bumped when he was a toddler.
The tooth has been grey for a while and had regular 6 months check ups. Last week he was complaining of pain and had a lump on his gum so I took him to the dentist last week, got given antibiotics and an appointment this week. Been told today he's been put on an NHS waiting list for tooth extraction... Up to 1 year??? Also been told he may be bumped down from an emergency so could wait longer.
Reading online and seeing the health impacts this could have is quite worrying, also being told if he develops a constant fever or face swelling etc to go to A&e.. Am I the only person that thinks it's mental people are having to wait this long for emergency dental treatment especially kids?? Surely it costs the NHS more in the long run?
Thinking about going private but there's hardly anything in our area.. Makes me worry for the future.
