Royal Mail, postage unpaid

Have received a card saying £16.66 due on a parcel. It is my address but not my name, correct initial, incorrect surname. I’ve a few things on order, but obviously card doesn’t indicate what the parcel might be.
There doesn’t seem to be any way to get parcel except to pay. If I do and parcel not for me, it’s a lot of money! If I go to post office holding place, would they let me look at it before paying so I could see if it was something I’d sent for?
I know it’ll get sent back if I don’t claim it, but then I might miss out on an order I’d made, so lose that money…am going in circles here!😳

Surely anything you ordered you'd have fully paid the postage at point of sale. It sounds dodgy. And it doesn't even have your surname so you can't collect it from the depot with ID as it's not for you. So I think you've no choice but to ignore it.
If anything you ordered doesn't turn up then seek a refund from retailer. You wouldn't have failed to put your own surname on the order, would you?

You need to take evidence of your name and address, so if the parcel isn’t addressed to you, then they won’t hand it over. Just explain it when you go to the Sorting Office.

Yes take the card to the post office holding place. You can check it before you pay.

How are they asking you to pay?

Theres loads of scams from phishing website, premium rate number on the card etc

Yes, I thought scam first, but logged into Royal Mail ap and everything on card matches (except surname).
V good point, I will always have paid delivery charge on orders, and would never order anything costing that much for delivery!
My address can sometimes get mixed up with others eg such and such Place/Street /Road.
Will just ignore!
