2week wait urology referral taking 6weeks

Hi there, just writing to see if anyone else has had a similar situation. I was referred to the 2ww pathway for urology cancer referral last Thurs. I had my CT scan today (Wed) but my next diagnostic test isn’t for another 4 weeks. When I called the clinic they just said that they had no slots even for urgent patients and that clinics had been cancelled. They advised for me to call everyday to see if there were any cancellations or new clinics sessions. I am extremely stressed, I have a newborn and a toddler and my symptoms are getting worse (pain, frequent urination, swollen belly). I asked them and my GP surgery reception if I should get the diagnostic tests privately and then come back to the NHS, but they seemed to think it would scupper things and make it difficult for me to get treatment via the NHS. I cannot afford private treatment and I was recently made redundant while on Mat leave so I no longer have access to private healthcare. I’m at my wits end and don’t know what to do. Surely I can get the diagnostic tests done privately and get the info to the relevant NHS team for treatment via my GP? Has anyone else done this? My breast milk is drying up from the stress. I just don’t know what to do.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice but I'm hoping this comment will bump your post a bit and someone will be along with some wise words soon

Big hug to you, you're going through a lot, please be gentle with yourself and I hope it turns out to be nothing sinister x

Ridiculously, some NHS won't accept private tests & insist on wasting the taxpayer money doing them all themselves again. I would keep calling, asking if any other hospitals/ trusts could arrange it etc.

I'm sure all will be ok, but sending hugs as you must be stressed out your mind xx

Thank you for your reply, I will call back tomorrow and ask about other trusts/hospitals. Yes, very stressed can’t believe this is happening.
