Hi all, I need badly a change of career I think. I need something flexible ish (husband is forces) which is why I am self employed currently. My background in the past was retail and for the last 10+ years it's been property and finance. I miss switching off and enjoying paid holidays, I need to get my teeth stuck into something else, it's time and i'm bored! I have children, one fairly young but have great family support around but I'm just out of ideas, we are not in a hustle and bustle type city it's pretty small in that sense and heavy on tourism so I think i'm looking at something hybrid. Pay is poor locally! I just don't know where to venture yet. I have a degree but I look at some of the job descriptions and they either pay poorly or I read it and think this is so fluffed up, i'm not even sure what the job even is! Seems they love a fancy title. I guess I want it all, well paid, some trust and flexibility and not to be treated like a kid! I've been self employed for so long it scares me going back to employment albeit it would be nice to switch off. Has anyone transitioned away and have found their career super rewarding or has been surprised by something they've tried? I don't want to just be a 'mum' likewise I just don't want to be a full blown career woman but I relish the challenge it brings. We cannot drop an income, even retraining in a lot of instances the money is awful. I'm just feeling a bit meh to be honest and trapped!
