I posted the other day about my husbands headaches

Over the last years now and then he'll have periods of bad headaches, been checked out had eye tests etc all fine

We rang 111 on Monday as they were quite painful, they said he has tension headaches but his BP was also high

Doctor prescribed co codamol, they have been helping

Told him to keep an eye on BP, it has still been high

He said his headaches weren't as bad today , he went to sleep this evening then woke up an hour or so later with headache- this is what has worried me as I googled waking up with headaches and now I've got myself in a state

His BP is currently high, but I am still so paranoid about it being some MORE sinister

Can high BP headaches happen like this ?

I also think he is now worried about hus BP which is probably making him more stressed, and possibly raising his BP even more but I am just getting so stressed about the headaches as Google is obviously giving me worst case scenarios 😭😩

@Inmy40 thank you for your reply, I've told him to stop the cocodamol and see how he goes with the naproxen

I can't help but worry, which I'm sure is making him more stressed 😩 I think he's now sick of me asking him how he feels

Respectfully, you need to deal with your own anxiety, and let your DH deal with his own health. If the headaches are debilitating, then he will go and get help. But your anxiety is palpable and - on the face of it - entirely out of proportion.

(Speaking as the partner of decades of someone who suffers badly from migraine and headaches.)

Co codamol can make them worse. I was popping them like sweets for my migraines until a specialist told me they cause rebound headaches and put me on to nefopam and gabapentin instead. If taken regularly the dose needs to go up over time. My first tablet i remember feeling like i was flying i dont recall the next 4 hours, after a while that dose did nothing for me. Not much help but yeah co codamol not great for long term headaches.

@NoSquirrels thank you for your reply. You're absolutely right, I really do need to try and deal with my own anxiety. When ever it comes to any close family member having an issue, I get myself into a state 😩

Another thing he could try in the mean time is electrolytes/coconut water. Both I find help me immensely with staying hydrated especially in hot weather which makes my headaches so much worse.

DH has essential hypertension which is medicated with lisinopril and something else.

It got diagnosed originally years ago because he was getting worse and worse headaches. We ended up getting off a train we were on to Scotland and going back home to see the doctor immediately.

Since starting the medication they have completely stopped.
