Horrific start to my new job and all my colleagues hate me

I can't even type it because it's so specific but basically I ended up throwing out personal belongings and getting experienced colleagues called out when they were trying to help me. I look like a total wanker who thinks she knows better than everyone else who works there.

Wtf do I do. No one wants to speak to me.

I think we need some more info here.
Why were you throwing out personal belongings?

FionnulaTheCooler · 13/08/2024 20:49

Apologise, and take cakes in for the whole team tomorrow.

comedycentral · 13/08/2024 20:50

It sounds like a tough first start, I'm not really sure what the context is due to lack of detail but all you can do is move forwards. Maybe apologise to the people involved.

ineedtogwtoutbeforeitatoohot · 13/08/2024 20:52

Why did you behave that way ?

MissingMoominMamma · 13/08/2024 20:52

Own your mistakes; apologise profusely, and I second the suggestion of cakes.

Sidebeforeself · 13/08/2024 20:53

Sorry this doesn’t make sense, but the only way is to face up to it. Go in with your head held high and apologise , with a smile and a genuine request to start all over again. If they don’t respond positively it says more about them than you

HousedInMySoul · 13/08/2024 20:54

Are you a housekeeper in an NHS hospital ward? They seem to love doing that (disclaimer: NAHALT)

Cocopogo · 13/08/2024 20:54

I agreed, apologise and take cake!

How did you get people ‘called out’? What does that mean in your context?

Do you mean you had people challenged? Told off? Bollocked by a manager? Disciplined?

That was my thought too! Been there and done that on several wards!! On off chance it I'd nhs ward based, it will blow over! The next crisis will appear or next new start that someone doesn't like.

Cakes all ways

ohyesido · 13/08/2024 21:09

We can’t really offer much comment if there is no context OP

how did you come to be chucking personal belongings away?

Echobelly · 13/08/2024 21:14

Yes, I can't tell from your post whether this is literally what happened or if it's anxiety talking and catastrophising something that's not as bad as you're making it out to be. Which is not your fault, it's the anxiety.

Can you explain it more literally, what happened (without colouring it emotionally) and how it came about? I don't think anyone can help until we understand what literally happened, not what seems to be what you feel has happened, and I mean that as kindly as possible.

AutumnCrow · 13/08/2024 22:53

Ah well.

Better luck tomorrow, OP.
