Spot under the skin, big event on the weekend - any tips?

Hi all,

Long shot I know but does anyone have any tips for minimising a breakout when there a spot under the surface of your skin? I’m prone to hormonal acne on my chin. At the moment the area where the spot is is raised. I’ve got an event on the weekend and really want to do anything poss to stop it erupting… any tips please?

thanks

I swear by Dots for Spots but you usually need them to be closer to the surface to work

Either leave it or use hot compresses to bring it up, then a Dot for Spots to drain, bit of concealer and bobs your uncle

I'd rather it erupted now as opposed to leave it. Cant you give it a good poke or tease it out now so it has time to resolve by the weekend? Witch hazel, tea tree oil etc?

Put an ice cube against it for 5-10 minutes about once an hour

It increases blood flow (and healing) to the area, and the cold stops (r temporarily) the bacteria (and therefore pus) from increasing. Then something disinfecting on it (tea tree/witch hazel/salicilic acid)

It stops the spot from growing bigger

That way it can resolve itself without having to come to a head and scaring

Thanks guys, really appreciate all the advice. It’s so tender this evening, ugh!

Sterilised needle in the centre, squeeze and then a spot patch overnight.

Ooh I'm going to try that next time, thanks!

Ibuprofen (anti inflammatory)
Topically, either zinc/niacinamide or a dab of hydrocortisone.

RedWinePoliticsAndHair · 13/08/2024 22:55

Blister plaster. Works every time. They've got the same thing in them as the far more expensive dots for spots and are much bigger so- in my experience- work much better. Two nights with one of them on maximum and it'll be gone.

This only works if you film it, and post it on Mumsnet I'm afraid.

Toothpaste

Cold compress (frozen peas or similar). Otherwise leave it alone.

MrsGhastlyCrumb · 13/08/2024 23:11

Neem oil is the best thing I have ever come across for this (I have the one from Neal's Yard, it lasts for ever). Apply at night, and prepare for the smell- it's not great. However it's like magic. That and drinking a load of water would be my recommendation. Good luck!

Thursdaygirl · 13/08/2024 23:12

Either freeze it away as suggested or leave well alone

KievLoverTwo · 13/08/2024 23:19

Big blob of toothpaste on it overnight will dry it out and shrink the spot.

longdistanceclaraclara · 13/08/2024 23:33

Anus or toothpaste.

Who's anus would you suggest using?🧐

Sunbird24 · 13/08/2024 23:35

Typo there @longdistanceclaraclara? 😂

Sudocrem overnight sometimes works if you have any

Eggnogg90 · 14/08/2024 14:51

Anus 😂

Well last night I slept with crushed aspirin mixed with a blob of hydrocortisone on my face and there is such a marked improvement today

Good news OP, once upon a time I would have squeezed a spot, and generally made things 100 times worse!

selfesteemfan · 14/08/2024 22:48

Star face stickers from Superdrug work an absolute treat every time without fail and I get painful under the skinners on my chin at that time of the month.
