What are your best car journey games? Kids age 6 and 8.

Number plate games have to make words from the last 3 letters in the order they appear .of the number plates around you. I.e AB12 LZD spells Lizard

Eye spy
First person to see a brown lorry, red van, orange car or whatever

Car snooker.

Red car

Then yellow
Then red
Then green. Etc ...

Latecomer! We do scavenger hunts with increasingly tricky things to find on route ie a dragon / a yellow car / someone on a skateboard etc

Another good one is to call out three foods, none of which goes with another. This is harder than you think as usually a sweet thing like jam will go nicely with something savoury like cheese. The whole car has to be in agreement that all combinations are truly disgusting and the foods have to be real food stuffs ( no slug mayonnaise or anything). The nearest I have got is gravy paired with pesto paired with ice cream but even that is debatable… foodies probably eat pesto ice cream all the time!

Went to a restaurant the other day and the dessert was accompanied with basil ice cream. It was actually really nice. Not sure if I should say this was in France … where tastes are a bit different to the uk but it was really lovely.
