Can you move individual toes?

I was reading a newspaper article yesterday about looking after your feet. I think it was the Guardian.

The writer was talking about trying to move one toe at a time and just nothing happening. Apparently it's very good for your feet, and for your stability and flexibility in later life, to be able to do this.

I can move my big to separately but not the others.

How about you?

Yes , I can but my third and fourth only move together, the rest individually.

I can scrunch them and spread them and piano scale them too.

No, but I can flare my nostrils!

Huh? Can't everyone? :O

Not my wife or my kids, much to their amusement! apparently only 30% of people can flare their nostrils.

I can but get bad cramp in my foot and big toe when I attempt it.

I can wiggle them all separately

DD can, but she is a dancer. I can’t….

I can move all of the to some degree independently and can pick things up with my toes like a monkey as can DS. DH and DD have zero movement. I can flat my nostrils too and had no idea this wasn’t common. I will have to examine the rest of the family!

Do you think you can train yourself to do this? I'm going to try. I think it would be an excellent party trick.

I can’t move mine independently. I can spread them. I can wiggle them and sometimes one is wiggling independently of the others but not under my control if that makes sense. So my brain can send the message ‘wiggle toes’ and there’s plenty of movement, but I can’t choose which one to wiggle and wiggle it without the others joining in 😂 When I try to focus on wiggling a specific one, I get that awful frustration feeling in my belly and have to stop.

I can flare my nostrils, wiggle my ears and raise one eyebrow though.
