Anyone had an insect bite go hard like this?

Was bitten by a mosquito just under my knee last night - felt the fecker and then saw it fly off. Today I woke up feeling like my knee was very bruised. Looked down and where I was bitten there's now a very hard lump. Not like when an insect bite is very itchy and swells up with fluid - it feels like a bone! Not really itchy at all either.

Anyone had anything like it? If it were infected I'd expect it to be a bit more red and itchy? Here's a photo slightly side on. Google's not coming up with anything that obviously relevant.

I was bitten by a horse fly when I was a kid and had an incredibly hard lump that got huge and had to have antibiotics. Have you taken any anti histamine or put insect cream on it I would be popping in to a pharmacy for advice.

I have several lumps on my legs and ankles following bites. Years on and they are still there, like a small, dried pea under the skin

Potentially skeeter syndrome, an allergic reaction to the mosquito’s saliva. Take an antihistamine and see your pharmacist. If you start to feel ill (feverish, swollen lymph nodes) see your GP as you might need oral steroids.

Pharmacists can prescribe antibiotics for infected insect bites if necessary under the Pharmacy First service. Consult them.

Yep. One recently on my thigh back of left leg. Really painful as I sat on it! I tried to squeeze it but it was rock hard. I wore white trousers for the first time in years - well decades actually. I figured at 64 It was safe to do so now as my periods had finished. Unfortunately I got blood speckles from the wound! It eventually went down but blimey!

Also had one on my cheek another time. I squeezed it, again could not get anything out but it 'squeaked' like polystyrene!!

I have. Bites usually do go like that for me. I use antihistamine cream and tablets and they’re usually ok after a few days.
