I often suffer with bouts of headaches, I have had quite a bad one on and of since last week

I did go to the doctors yesterday as I was concerned, they said it was a tension headache from 'stress' and a few other potential factors (change in sleep/less sleep)

They also said I have high blood pressure

Was given co codamol , which is helping a little bit but I've woken up again with a headache

Can tension headaches last this long?

Doctor didn't seem concerned

I tend to worry and think it's something more sinister, even though I've has these episodes before

I sympathise with you, I have always suffered from Headaches and migraines.

To answer your question, in my experience, tension headaches can and do last for a week. In my case I think that mine stem from tension in my jaw and neck, which is quite hard to address, especially as I wake up in the morning with my headaches. I also suffer from insomnia, which probably doesn't help.

I have also been to the doctor in the past, just in case there is some dangerous underlying reason, but they are completely unconcerned, stating that tension headaches are very common.

I have found that using Volterol back and muscle pain relief gel, rubbed into my neck muscles, has made the most difference.

I am aware that taking pain relief tablets daily can cause rebound headaches but the Volterol gel doesn't seem to have that effect. I am also trying to remember to drink more water.

I hope that you can find something that helps because it is miserable and worrying. Good luck.

@indianrunnerduck thank you for your response. Sorry to hear you suffer with similar

I will give the volterol a go, thank you!

Headaches really do suck 😢 and I don't think the hot weather is helping!

I also woke up with one during the night, but I do tend to grind my teeth, and im guilty of probably not drinking enough water before bed
