...that still works? Ours is a hand whisk (one of those with twin beaters) which was part of a mixing set that my DM won in a work raffle in 1983.

That gets used daily? Sharp flat screen TV. Think it's 20 years old now, followed by a Bosch fridge at 19.

LoneHydrangea · 13/08/2024 09:34

We reckon our Panasonic bread machine is at least 20 years old. Used constantly and still works perfectly. I think the KitchenAid mixer is about that age too.

clopper · 13/08/2024 09:39

electric whisk from 1989, and it was second hand then. It’s an ugly brown colour and I keep thinking about replacing it, but it still works so well so I can’t justify that.

Summertimer · 13/08/2024 09:42

Probably a couple of table lamps, but all wiring and fittings changed so that doesn’t really count. Our bigger blender is 90s but I don’t use it much as the stick blender does everything I need.

Treelichen · 13/08/2024 09:44

Singer sewing machine from 1944

Hedgesgalore · 13/08/2024 09:50

Dh inherited a gramophone player, the paperwork says 1957. He puts it on every christmas 😁

Dh has a technics stereo, bought in 1993. Still works with lovely sound.

My slow cooker is 29 yo. Works fine but the light isn't as bright as it should be, not in a rush to replace it.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/08/2024 09:50

Toaster 1896
Teas made 1920's

Delia65 · 13/08/2024 09:57

One of my DH's radios. 1927 apparently

sashh · 13/08/2024 10:02

Electric mixer, go in the late 1980s.

Pippatpip · 13/08/2024 10:06

Magimix from 1989.

ladybee2 · 13/08/2024 10:09

Kenwood chef from 1968 and Bernina sewing machine from 1965. Both real work horses and working brilliantly.

Coastalcreeksider · 13/08/2024 10:15

Moulinex carving knife. I use it to slice uncut bread occasionally.

Belonged to my parents and think itvwas bought in the 70s.

CocoapuffPuff · 13/08/2024 10:24

Sewing machine from the 50s. And I've just had to part with a wee hand mixer that was made in GDR, before reunification of East and West Germany. Early 80s, I'd think. It still worked but the plastic holding the metal whisks in had gone brittle and broke. I doubt the replacement will last half as long

Ilovethewild · 13/08/2024 10:28

My mum still has and uses the freezer from 1966!

MenopauseSucks · 13/08/2024 10:42

A Husqvarna sewing machine that my mother bought in 1966 just after my parents got married.

It was quite expensive & my father wasn't happy at the cost but she used it to make curtains in every house she's ever lived in.
She also used to make her own clothes & quite a lot of my clothes, especially summer dresses, when I was little back in the 70s.
She made 9 sets of curtains for the current house - lining attached to the curtains, beautifully made - but she'd had over 40 years experience at this point. People think they're professionally done.

Sorry - bit of a trip down memory lane there. I have childhood memories of being bored, dragged around fabric shops whilst she worked out sizing & measurements & the incredible noise as the needle whizzed through the fabric!

LetMeGoogleThat · 13/08/2024 11:01

My mums electric knife from the early 80s. Still works fine!

Time40 · 13/08/2024 18:32

My Singer Featherweight sewing machine that my grandmother acquired in 1936. It still sews a perfect seam. Whenever I take it in to be serviced, the shop always tries to buy it from me

@CarolinaInTheMorning That sounds adorable! I want a picture!

Time40 · 13/08/2024 18:35

DH has loads, a 50s teas made, a 40s fan, a 60s coffee grinder and a selection of inherited power tools. I made him get rid of the 60s radiogram and fridge

@MojoDojoCasaHouse You made him get rid of them? You are a cruel woman! I'd have given the radiogram a home.

merryhouse · 13/08/2024 18:57

I was going to say it was a toss-up between my radio cassette player and H's amp, but then I remembered that (a) we replaced my radio several years ago Grin and (b) I still have my 1984 hairdryer.

When I wanted to take it on the orchestra course to Berlin it needed the plug changing and I didn't want to have to wait for my dad to get home and be annoyed at the last-minute request; so I unscrewed the three-pin (using a knife), examined the New Wiring Reminder hanging in the pantry, opened the two-pin and realised I didn't need to know which is which until I came to put it back, changed all the wires over (again using a knife to turn the screws) and closed everything up again.

I was ridiculously proud of myself. Especially when I also put it back 12 days later (using the New Wiring Reminder).

taxguru · 13/08/2024 19:00

Sinclair ZX80 computer from 1980. Still works though I seldom use it.

Electric drill from the 70s still in use whenever we need to do DIY.

VHS video recorder from the 70s - again not in regular use, but still works for when we want to watch old videos.

mdinbc · 13/08/2024 19:03

We have my MIL's Electrolux vacuum, it is from late 50's or early 60's. Remarkably, I can still get bags and filters for it since the design didn't change for many years.

I have a hand mixer that I purchased in the 80's that is still going.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 13/08/2024 19:06

I was going to say my Grandad's electric mixer (with 2 beaters like lots above, obviously made to last) which I got when he died in 1989, then reading the other first posts, remembered I also have my mother's old sewing machine which she bought in 1969 (another applicance clearly made to last)...

HideTheCroissants · 13/08/2024 19:08

My bedside lamp is over 30 years old.

unsync · 13/08/2024 19:12

An art deco ceiling lamp that came from my grandparents' flat in Paris. I have a photo of my mother as a child with it hanging from the ceiling, so that dates it to the early 1930s.

Duckingella · 13/08/2024 19:15

Emeraldpies · 13/08/2024 04:08

Kenwood hand mixer that my in-laws got as a wedding present in 1972.

I have this;belonged to my grandmother in law.Its older than me.
