I have my niece and nephew tomorrow (I'm 6 weeks pregnant), so don't want to do anything too strenuous as I'm knackered! They're 3 and 5 and get bored easily! Any ideas what I can do with them to keep them occupied? I live in Berkhamsted

Do you have a garden? I'd do picnic in the garden and give them bubbles and water pistols!

Do you have any cornflour? You could make ooblek

Honestly? Go out somewhere. A farm park, somewhere with water play?

Go to the park. No idea about Berkhamstead but preferably one with a playground and a lake for feeding ducks. Bonus if it has a splash pad or similar.

Get some chalks, let them colour the patio or the path, then they can wash it all off with water and large paint brushes. Bubbles are always a hit if you've got time to buy some.
If you've got some leftover wallpaper, and some poster paint, they can draw around each other and make life size paintings, or just do hands and feet as that's a bit easier.

Encourage them to have an afternoon nap after lunch, read them a story to get them into a quiet mood.

I always find simple stuff is best, bucket of water in the garden with various cups etc.

Play dough made out of flour and salt.

Cardboard boxes to make a den and colour in etc.

Gadebridge park in Hemel has a splash park. Tring natural history museum is fun and not too big.
