What to do with one day in Manchester

We are visiting relatives but have a day in Manchester doing out own thing.

Dd and dh are going to the science museum and they will probably spend the whole day there knowing them.

Older ds will probably go clothes shopping.

I am going to the art gallery but won't be spending more than a couple of hours. Where can I go to have a good mooch about?

Not too bothered about shopping in Selfridges, but I like antique, second hand and vintage type places.

I also like coffee shops, but prefer independent ones. Recommendations for light kunch also welcome, please and thank you.

Afflecks palace! Lots of vintage outlets and fun stalls and indie shops.

Moose coffee is great for brunch. Two branches, the one further away from Piccadilly is nicer. Worth booking.

There used to be a great coffee place in Mackie Mayor an indoor food hall with beautiful Victorian features but not sure if it is still there, think they closed. There are tons of other great indie coffee places though.

The cafe in the art gallery is big and spacious and lovely to sit in awhile.

Affleck's Palace seems like my kind of place.
