Sausages incase I get a bit of gristle. I used to love a sausage buttie , but not any more.
Chicken and mushroom pot noodles , they now taste sweet .
When I was young I was a fussy eater and ate Heinz macaroni cheese nearly every day . As an adult it tastes all mushy and the sauce is tasteless and watery .

Malcorange · 12/08/2024 22:01

Oily fish. Loved salmon and mackerel but cannot stand either now

PussGirl · 13/08/2024 05:56

LapinR0se · 12/08/2024 21:38

This is giardiasis

Agree. Giardia does this.

RampantIvy · 13/08/2024 06:15

Cadburys chocolate.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 13/08/2024 06:28

Hummus.

Showmethebagels · 13/08/2024 06:32

Fried eggs - went off when pregnant 25 years ago!
Mussels - can’t face them now
Orange juice - tastes salty now unless freshly squeezed, but maybe it’s my tastebuds

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/08/2024 06:33

Cauliflower

Ihateboris · 13/08/2024 07:08

Cheese! I used to absolutely love cheese, any cheese. I suddenly completely went right off it. 😳

Aussieland · 13/08/2024 07:12

Also eggs 🤢 The texture, the weird bits. Can’t do it

TadpolesInPool · 13/08/2024 07:21

Since reducing UPF I have seriously gone off biscuits and cakes from supermarkets, bakeries and even in cafes. I was planning on treating myself when in the UK this summer (I live abroad) but was disappointed each and every time. My DC were the same. I bake lots of cakes and biscuits at home. I let them loose to choose what they wanted in the UK and almost nothing got bought a second time.

Weirdly I've also gone off steak. It used to be my go-to meal in restaurants but I dont enjoy it now.

Perfectlystill · 13/08/2024 07:24

Junk food inc ready meals.

As I've got older I have just gone off crap good, not purely for health reasons but it just doesn't taste delicious like eg Findus Crispy Pancakes did in the 80s.

PortiasBiscuit · 13/08/2024 07:25

Bloody Mr Kipling Bakewell Tarts, the bastards have taken 30% of the sugar out. That lovely fondant icing has been replaced by a sort of wallpaper paste with “sugar and sweeteners”, whole thing is tasteless.
I am genuinely full of rage about this, I want a treat, if I want healthy I’ll eat a bloody apple.

stormstormystormstorm · 13/08/2024 10:46

Yoghurt. Sausages. Milk. Avocado. Fish.

All of the above I used to love but can no longer stomach at all.

@LapinR0se @PussGirl

I always wondered that but thought the attacks were too far apart. Had my first episode in around 2005, then 2 close together in about 2009, then a handful more here and there over the years until a record 9 weeks of incessant diarrhoea in 2016 which was investigated with nothing diagnosed. Stool test was negative for giardia.

Then in 2017 I had my gallbladder out, and that problem hasn't (touch wood) returned since. They give you a good dose of metronidazole after surgery I believe, to stave off infection - maybe it cleared me of chronic giardiasis?

But I still can't eat eggs, or anything that can give you a powerful next-day repeat taste which can feel a bit too sulphury for my liking - so I no longer eat mince either, or anything with strongly flavoured coating/seasoning.

squishee · 13/08/2024 14:26

Peanuts as a snack food. I find them really boring now.

Domoda · 13/08/2024 14:34

Also have gone off pizza, most pizza is just so meh, unless it is the absolute best wood fired straight out of the wood fire type pizza it just tastes of boringness and disappointment

Deathraystare · 13/08/2024 15:04

Cauliflower. It smells and tastes like it has spent ages in a cupboard! I don't even like cauliflower cheese now!

Not that fond of pizza either. If I have it it has to be thin and crispy, I hate doughy things.

Giardia is notoriously difficult to grow in the lab. The fact you were better after metronidazole is interesting and suggests it could well have been the problem.

invisiblecat · 13/08/2024 22:32

Heinz Sandwich Spread
Findus Crispy Pancakes

I really couldn't eat either of those now.

PeatrixBotter · 13/08/2024 22:34

Avocados. They used to be my most consumed food ever. I think I had a few too many 'stringy' ones! And I've thought about buying some recently but they were all small and hard. Due to environmental concerns I don't think I'll bother again.

Findus pancakes...what the hell were those day glo orange shit made from.
I'm a 70s kid and I hated them then.

AuntieEstablishment · 13/08/2024 22:40

I'm sorry to lower the tone of the thread, but someone on TikTok said that avocados taste like clean dick, and it's both true and horrific.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 13/08/2024 22:45

Tinned sweetcorn.

iloveroastpotatoes · 13/08/2024 23:08

I developed Parosmia after Covid which lasted around a year. Onions and garlic smelt and tasted like rotting flesh until one day, it just went away. I am still left with hating certain fruit flavours in sweets and puddings. Very odd.

Anjo2011 · 13/08/2024 23:12

Chicken. After a very bad bout of food poisoning the thought of eating it is just 🤮
