Objects you irrationally hate

What is your irrationally hated object?
Me - laptop chargers. Just so badly weighted with the heavy box bit in the middle so that they fall and slither off the table annoyingly. And just so flappy and floppy to deal with when trying to stash in my work bag. Hate the bastarding things.

Charging cords/cables of all kinds. The fucking things are everywhere and we need them for bloody everything. They drive me mad.

loropianalover · 11/08/2024 23:08

Random one but I have circular bedside tables (that I chose myself btw!) and they make me furious. Nothing else in the room is circular and they take up extra space because they can’t slide neatly against the wall or bed.

I dont know what I was thinking and it pisses me off every day looking at them. They’re on the (long) list to replace but may have to bump them up to urgent soon.

Domoda · 11/08/2024 23:09

Yes they can be vv annoying, particularly when you need to find the one with the obscure micro usb fitting for the one gadget that needs it

Garden hoses. Especially if they’re on a reel. Bastarding things never do what they’re supposed to. There must be a better way.

Yes!! My parents have round bedside tables in their guest room. They are absolutely infuriating. 🤣

I used to have a Henry vacuum. It used to fall over when you were vacuuming. Still with a silly grin on its face.

FuckingFreezing · 11/08/2024 23:15

Self service checkouts. I absolutely HATE them

squashyhat · 11/08/2024 23:15

My strimmer. It was very cheap and has a stupid coil of plastic cord that keeps breaking. You need 3 hands to prise the cap off, hold the spool still, thread the cord through a ridiculously tiny hole and push the cap back on to hold it in place. Only to have it break again as soon as you use it. New one next year Angry

Domoda · 11/08/2024 23:16

Steam mop. It just wetly pushed the dirt around. Gave the stupid thing away.

Anything made in China.

ThatOneUncomfortableEyelash · 11/08/2024 23:20

As far as I can see every item mentioned so far is utterly rational to hate Grin [edit: except the one about hating everything made in China. Some things, yeah, but hating everything made in China, nah, that's proper irrational IMO.] Why are there so many shit things??

For me, my dosette boxes. They're very useful, and detachable and rearrangeable, and they hardly ever burst open and vomit their contents all over the floor and somehow under the sofa when dropped. But I hate them. Their cheery rainbow colours. The way they nag at me through their mere existence. Everything they symbolise and represent. Bastard things.

Anything with one of those "while pressing down, turn" caps. I don't know if it's my own excessive clumsiness or bad luck or increasingly shoddy design, but I seem to get many lately where the cap spins all the way around but no matter how hard I press it can't get into the groove that will let it turn to release. Also small tubes, bottles, and such with a foil seal under the cap that fits exactly to the opening (where there is no tab to rip off the seal).

Kleptronic · 11/08/2024 23:24

I've got a small pan I fucking loathe. It will not stay upright on the burner without something in it.

I was going to post the same thing!

I often can't open bottles of bleach!

WithnailOnTour · 11/08/2024 23:25

Shoe boxes. They’re shoes. Why are they in a box?

Kornvallmo · 11/08/2024 23:27

@Kleptronic if you have a garden, throw the pan out of the window, it's very cathartic.

What do you put in it?

God yes, badly weighted pans are extremely annoying

Rubber bands

Avatartar · 11/08/2024 23:35

My clothes horse, the horizontal bars slide into each other to fold it up. If I unfold it the wrong way, they all spring apart and it takes forever to put it back together- I should bin it

I agree. I hate rewinding the damned thing. Every year, I think about getting one of those hoses that automatically rewind.

The small tubes sometimes have a spike on the other end of the lid to pierce the foil.

I’ve just realised I had a battle with an extension cord on a reel a couple of weeks ago too. So maybe reels are my nemesis. Sodding things.

GrandHighPoohbah · 12/08/2024 00:55

I hate the bastard pressure washer. The hosepipe, power cable and nozzle hose seem to tangle up the second I turn the damn thing on.

longdistanceclaraclara · 12/08/2024 01:42

My neighbour's fucking wind charms.
