Hi all, after 20th are, my trusty Zanussi fridge freezer has broken down and I'm urgently in need of a new one. What are your brand recommendations? Just a standard fridge freezer size, no fancy American styles!

TIA.

We have an 11 year old Samsung, which is brilliant.

Oleaginus · 11/08/2024 16:27

50/50 divide if possible, stainless steel or grey, ideally. My old one is black, but my oven is stainless.

Thanks again.

We’ve had good experiences with Bosch appliances (including fridge-freezers and washing machines) and so have my parents.

We had one Bosch fridge-freezer that lasted for years and years. Our next one (which we’d still have if we hadn’t left it for our buyers) developed a small fault while out of warranty and we paid for a Bosch engineer to come out - he gave us the parts for free because it was ‘only 6 months out of warranty’ and only charged the call-out fee. Not the most high-end but not sure what more you get if you pay more - we’ve always been very happy with them.

Edited to add: our Bosch fridge is stainless steel and looks lovely, but it’s 60/40 - no idea if they do 50/50.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2024 16:30

I don't think ours is quite 50/50. Maybe 55/45 (fridge first).

It's moved house 3 times and other than a few dents, is still going strong!

HoppityBun · 11/08/2024 16:32

I have a very old Bosch, which is working fine touch wood. I’ve been thinking I’ll replace it with a Siemens because they provide a 5 year guarantee

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 11/08/2024 16:33

I had a couple of Xanussis over 20 years or so that I liked but last time we went for Bosch because its layout was what i was after. It's great - quiet! Well-designed. It's dark grey/silver. I love it.

Ponkpinkpink15 · 11/08/2024 16:42

Love my (silver/brushed chrome/whatever it is 😂😂) Bosch I think it's 60/40, bought it from AO.

2 good size drawers (side by side) & 1 large drawer underneath. Good door trays.

freezer size is 'ok' but not huge. But I think that's pretty much the case for any split fridge/freezer.

Thanks @MarshmallowVeronica I have a Bosch dishwasher, washing machine, and a dryer and I love them! The 50/50 isn't a dealbreaker.

Funnily enough I've been looking for a 50:50 fridge freezer for my mum. ao.com have 50 odd available on their website, some of those are duplicates in different colours. You can filter by colour, split, brand, etc. Even better, if you have a Boots advantage card, buy from the Boots Electricals website (fulfilled by ao) and get advantage points for the identical item.

I spent so much time looking at fridges in amazement today - so much choice - and the luxury of some of them! I'm pleased with my purchase - it's 550mm in width, as I've a tight space in my kitchen, but I admit I fantasised about some of the models I saw!
