I do have another thread on this but I've been on antibiotics since Thursday and it's just getting worse.

It's still hot and new puss filled blisters are appearing.

Shouldn't the antibiotics have kicked in by now?

It's so sore and embarrassing

Could it be m pox?

No.

Labs came back as nothing in the blister fluid. Monkey pox blisters are infectious.

I think it's palmoplantar pustular psoriasis.

An autoimmune disease.

You poor thing. I have psoraisis PPP on hands and feet which is currently in a relatively quiet phase. It's a right bugger and takes careful management. I do think you should insist on a dermatology specialist and get a proper diagnosis. I had countless misdiagnoses through my GP practice until I finally went privately to see a dermatologist who was the only one who recognised it as a psoraitic condition.

Do you know how they tell the difference between that and pompholyx? I have various flare ups of skin issues. And some auto immune stuff. I’ve often wondered!

Are you being referred to a dermatologist at all, it will probably be a wait though and disappeared by then but surely you really need a proper diagnosis because if it is PPP you will need a different treatment probably to if it is Pompolyx

No.

The GP hanst said what it is and now it's clearing up doesn't seem interested.

I suppose if I get another flare up I will push to see a dermatologist.

I've been battling to get medicated for sunclinical hypothyroidism for years and just got prescribed levothyroxin today so didn't feel I could push about my hand at my appointment today.

Gosh this takes me back to a random and insane outburst of dyshidrotic eczema a few years ago!

Soles of both feet and palms of both hands, exactly like yours.

Had antibiotics, a couple of courses of steroids, and the only thing that really helped (and I still use it now at the first sign of the pomphlyx) is weapons grade DERMOVATE steroid cream. Ask your dr for it, seriously.

I ended up with an infection in my ankle at the time (not via the skin as I never had any spots there, was a bit of a mystery and when I get eczema now on that foot I get a hot and angry red patch on my ankle as a happy reminder), I was on crutches for a time (well sort of, bit difficult with raw palms of hands), tbh I was in a right old mess.

My doctor was aghast at about 3 months in when I told him I was going on holiday to Florida 3 weeks later... cancel my holiday? I don't think so 😎
The flight was agony but the eczema had almost completely cleared up by the end of the holiday! I always wondered if it was the chlorine in the pool that shocked it into submission....? I threw my socks in the bin every day on that holiday 😀

My eczema is seasonal, it starts in April and usually buggers off around November. It doesn't appear every year but like I said as soon as it does out comes the dermovate. This year I have a random stubborn patch on the top of my left foot 🤷‍♀️

Make sure you keep it moisturised - use doublebase or similar, keep slathering it on because if it cracks it can be really itchy and painful. That patch looks quite dry and cracked on your hand.

Good luck! You're not alone!

Oh and after this had all happened when my fingernails grew out I had a horizontal ridge across all of them, as though both hands had been slammed in a door.

Human bodies are weird.

@PIPpityDoodah I really hope that you find levothyroxine as transformational as I did.

im glad that you’re lab results didn’t show anything horrendous although it must be slightly frustrating for you not to get a clear answer. I must admit there was a moment or two that mpox crossed my mind Grin

I'm just getting lumpy and bumpy all over.

These definitely aren't a reaction to cleaning products, could it just be a autoimmune house of cards type situation? Like it's kicked off and now just popping up all over?

I took my first levothyroxin this morning.

I actually spoke to it before taking it 🤣 "please little pill, change my life!"

I'm so fed up of feeling this way and all symptoms point to my thyroid.

I also paid for a private blood test to get the thyroid antibodies as I believe it's hashimotos

Ok, I get those too. For me it’s if I have a coarse fabric and rest my elbows on it. So a scratchy acrylic or real wool jumper, and putting my elbows on the table type pose.

Or a coarse weave stiff cotton.

Once you twig, it settles really fast. Basically I’m a delicate little flower 🤣. It’s a bit princess and pea, once your skin is irritable. Too hot, too cold, too rough…!

Cornettoninja · 30/08/2024 10:48

How are you getting on @PIPpityDoodah ?

It did heal but everytime I do anything I get spots on it.

I'm unable to even wash my hands.

I'm hoping it doesn't break out badly again but am getting irritated spots.

I also bought a new pair of sandals and my feet were a little irritated and it broke out in the same spots my hand has now.

I really think it's immune related and every little issue is being attacked

Loads of moisturiser on the whole body. A homeopathic type doctor told me to treat the skin as an organ, not just a patch.

Are you washing with emollient rather than any soap/gel products?

It does settle, then you slowly work out what you can tolerate. I’ve just reintroduced shampoo and conditioner. All going well so far.

It is annoying.

Did you get your blood results back? I don’t think this is hashimotos, so very interested. I really hope you get to the bottom of this though.

Yes, antibody level is normally under 34 and mine was over 500 so Hashimotos.

PIPpityDoodah · 30/08/2024 17:51

My hand might not be directly related to hashimotos itself but I think it's definitely related to autoimmune issues

Ah, sorry you’re still struggling with skin issues. You definitely need to be in front of a specialist over exhausting the GP’s knowledge.

PIPpityDoodah · 31/08/2024 09:26

It's starting again 😭😭😭😭😭😭

This is exactly how it's started last time.

I'm so upset :(

Have you been hot and sweaty?
This time you can probably nip it in the bud so it doesn’t get so bad.

Antihistamine, stay cool, wash in dermol or similar.

Though I found greasy creams made me sweatier which is counterproductive, so maybe use a lotion not a cream.

Some people find plant based products better than petrol type ointments.

voiceofastar · 31/08/2024 10:49

Have you been using that area of your hand to wipe your mouth/face by any chance?

HelenWheels · 31/08/2024 10:51

i agree i hope you can nip it in the bud

bluedomino · 31/08/2024 11:01

Have you had any contact with sheep? Orf can turn into wet blisters? Drs are quite bad at diagnosing it, you are better asking a vet!
Hope you get some relief soon.

PIPpityDoodah · 31/08/2024 11:05

No sheep 🤣
Not been sweaty.

Started the steroid cream on it again.

Been using gloves for all cleaning

Ans absolutely don't wipe my mouth with my hand (??)

Are there any foods that might be triggering it?

sorry it’s flaring again so soon after you thinking it was clearing up.
