Just a thought that's popped in my head. That this summer in the UK the heats been bearable and we've not had any unbearable heat waves?

Anyone else agree?

It's been unbearably hot in London at some points.

Where are you based?

NuffSaidSam · 11/08/2024 10:14

Yeah, but that's hardly unusual is it?

Michiru · 11/08/2024 10:24

It took a long time to get going, but yes, it's a very nice summer this year.

Mainoo72 · 11/08/2024 10:26

It’s been unbearable in the SE at times & another horribly hot day coming tomorrow.

MonsteraMama · 11/08/2024 10:26

I'd have liked a little bit more sunshine, we had an absolutely miserable July here in Wales, I used my wellies and cag more than in the winter! But August has been lovely so far so there's hope.

thistlepiedpiper · 11/08/2024 10:27

'Summer' my arse
I'm in Scotland and can honestly say we've not had a fucking summer
Today is warm. But it will not make up for the last 6 weeks of piss poor cold and grey days

SonicTheHodgeheg · 11/08/2024 10:27

I’m glad that the temp hasn’t gone over 30 on many days but it’s been humid and hard to sleep some nights. Hopefully it will stay that way until the autumn

It's been an awful June and July and wind and rain last week for our holiday. I'd like a summer that has sustained warmth and sun and reasonable dryness. Not necessarily roasting hot but being able to leave the heating off for the duration and put the winter coats away would be nice. I'm hoping the weather picks up in time for our camping trip in a couple of weeks.

DrCoconut · 11/08/2024 10:33

@SonicTheHodgeheg are you in the UK? It's been struggling into the low 20s most days here!

HappyLittleNarwhal · 11/08/2024 11:12

Unbearable on MN seems to be about 20 degrees though.

I'm in North Scotland and sitting in my blazing hot garden right now.

Indeed.
I'm pleased for parents of school aged DC that the weather has been very pleasant for many areas for the duration of the school holidays so far.

We had a few warm days in June, but the weather got consistently better from about mid July. I have even had to water the garden as we haven't had much rain.

I'm in South Yorkshire, and yesterday was what I would consider a perfect summer's day - sunny with a cool breeze, especially if you stayed in the shade.

I was directing traffic at an outdoor event yesterday and was out in it all day. It was low to mid 20s and just perfect - not too hot, but nice enough to attract a good crowd, which means that the charities yesterday's event was for has done well out of it.

I hope those of you who have had miserable weather get some sunshine before the schools go back.

I'm London based and thinking about the unbearable heat and wildfires that occurred in summer 2022

RampantIvy · 12/08/2024 17:25

Yes, summer 2022 was a hot one, even where I live. It was the lack of rain that was the issue. All the ruined buildings in Ladybower reservoir were well above the water level.

StellaCruella · 12/08/2024 19:37

I agree - I hope September isn't hot like last year. But so far only a handful of days have been over 30, and the rest have been pleasantly warm.

We had a gorgeous week the first week in September last year. I don't live in London, so it wasn't as hot for us, just lovely.
