Taking tea bags abroad

I've been online and it says that its ok to pack them in your case. We are going to Spain on Monday. Do other people do this? My Son has just made me paranoid cause he said Customs might think they are drugs, told him not to be ridiculous.

II’ve take teabags all over the world and never had an issue!

Snacksgalore · 10/08/2024 21:09

Loads of people do. According to TUI 49% of people do.

CissOff · 10/08/2024 21:10

Always. Lipton tea is the work of the devil. I refuse to have a shoddy cup of tea whilst away.

Pigeonqueen · 10/08/2024 21:11

I took loads to Ibiza, packed them in a plastic sandwich bag in my case, no issues at all.

TheBossOfMe · 10/08/2024 21:13

Totally fine. I travel for work for a lot of time and always take them. Just be aware that people might think you’re dealing crack because there’s always someone who will sidle up to you at a conference asking whether you brought your usual “supplies” because they want a decent cup of tea 😂

loadypoady · 10/08/2024 21:14

Yes take them every holiday in checked or carry on luggage. Never had any problem I would not survive without my morning cuppa on holiday.

shellyleppard · 10/08/2024 21:14

I took tea bags and rice crispies to Greece many many years ago 😂😂

dbeuowlxb173939 · 10/08/2024 21:15

No they'll be fine in your case. I have a friend who takes teabags and a travel kettle wherever she goes!

LaraThot · 10/08/2024 21:15

Yes dont forget your bacon and sausages as well.

Gummybear23 · 10/08/2024 21:16

Lipton tea is disgusting.
Teabags first thing in suitcase.

redbluegreenyellowbrown · 10/08/2024 21:16

I take Twinings Earl grey with me everywhere, and if i can check in luggage and have access to a fridge i take my own oat milk too

Yuk
No thanks
Fresh meat in suitcase. Nope

GerardWay123 · 10/08/2024 21:19

I aways take Twinings English Breakfast tea with me. I was pleasantly surprised when the hotel we stayed in in New York supplied them. Apparently they are the most popular for English tourists there.

mrsfollowill · 10/08/2024 21:21

Always pack teabags in my hold luggage (Earl Grey and Yorkshire tea) - don't like coffee in the morning til I've had 4/5 teas. Liptons is gnats piss so I don't go there 🍵

Loads of people do. According to TUI 49% of people do.

and the rest 51% do it as well but keep quiet just in case.

I always pack black tea bags and sometimes travel kettle as well.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 10/08/2024 21:25

If you are going to Spain you can buy PG tips and Tetley in Mercadona.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 10/08/2024 21:25

Always always always!!!! And coffee 🤣

LittleOwl153 · 10/08/2024 21:30

Yes, taken tea bags to Spain frequently (in hand luggage as travel ryanair!) along with a few other items the Spanish just can't do! (Antihistamine is a fortune over there and paracetamol requires a chemist and a discussion and is expensive!)

I usually take sealed boxed items which is much mess of an issue if you do get stopped.

mitogoshi · 10/08/2024 21:30

For some reason people do take them, no idea why - every hotel I've stayed in overseas for the past few years has twinings in the restaurant or just drink coffee

Cem82 · 10/08/2024 21:30

I always bring tea bags (Barrys) to Spain and before they sold it in the UK would be requesting boxes from all visitors. I like a strong cup of tea! I also bring a sandwich bag of washing powder (react to some detergents) and porridge! Never had a problem!

Coming back from Spain I bring lots of coffee and chocolate covered nuts! Also often get herbs from the markets there - they always taste nicer for some reason.

How dare you! We're British!

Only joking, I have never taken teabags abroad ffs its only a week. Drink some orange juice or water or something!

Deipara · 10/08/2024 21:31

Currently in Spain. My Yorkshire tea made it through my hand luggage here just fine. Enjoy your holiday!

Octopus45 · 10/08/2024 21:32

@mitogoshi we're self-catering otherwise I wouldn't bother. Good to know its ok

I drink a LOT of tea. There’s never enough tea in the hotel room and it’s never Yorkshire tea. I’m fussy. And I even pack my own mugs as the cups are never large enough. 🙈🤣

WonderingWanda · 10/08/2024 21:33

They will not think it's drugs. I always travel with tea.
