Treadmill turned itself on - how?

Ok couldn't sleep last night tossed and turned until about 4:45 when I got up to make a drink.

Was in the kitchen and could hear a soft whirring noise from the garage. (Attached to house) I let the dogs come with me and unlocked the door.

The treadmill was on and the plastic baskets which were on top
Of it were lying on the floor. There was no light on

We haven't used the treadmill since before holidays and we are home about a week.

It was plugged in which it always is but the switch was on. I'm sure there is a regular scientific reason. Anyone got one?

Do you have a cat?

Authorinwaiting · 10/08/2024 09:22

No we don't have a cat but could a mouse have done it?

Have you checked that you aren't in the opening scenes of a horror movie?

power cut?

Nolongera · 10/08/2024 09:31

Something, possibly the plastic baskets on top, slipped and hit the on switch?

Authorinwaiting · 10/08/2024 09:31

I thought power cut but the clock on the oven is not flashing (if the power in interrupted it resets and flashes)

One of those giant hand sized spiders that are apparently on the rise?!

Balloonhearts · 10/08/2024 09:39

Power surge probably.

Some years ago when I was single and living alone I got up in the night about 1:30 for the loo to find the shower was going full blast! I switched it off, didn't think anything of it thinking it might be wonky pipework or something.

Three nights later I suddenly woke about 1:30 convinced there was someone in the shower - which again was going full blast! As always all my doors and windows were shut and locked, curtains pulled. I very nervously crept to the bathroom to find that while the shower was going, there was nobody there but the way the water was splashing, it was like someone was actually showering!

I called someone in the morning to check the shower out and he couldn't find any wonky wiring or plumbing, it all worked as it should.

It happened several times over about 2 months, always about 1:30am, it really was as if a ghost was showering.

Eventually I got used to it and no longer took any notice as I no longer felt in danger after the 2nd time. After about 2 months it stopped as fast as it started and it never happened again!

In the same flat, on one occasion is bed about 3am, it was a single bed and as I was laying there I distinctively felt someone physically sit on the bed and lay down! I never found out if it was the same one in the shower or not! I said ''good night, ghostie'' and nodded off!
