Help - cold chicken recipe picnic/garden party

Need some help with food ideas/a menu. We unexpectedly have a friend who lives abroad visiting today, and some other local friends. Haven't seen her for years. We will probably be in the garden and I wanted to do some 'nice' cold food that I can have prepared or mostly prepared in advance and put out whenever. I want it to be fresh and grown up - have just done three kids parties in a row with sausage rolls and sarnies etc and don't fancy more of the same! I'd like to cook stuff myself but wondering if I should buy some because I only have a few hours until they arrive and I need to clean too! There's only going to be 6 or 7 adults.

I was thinking a herby bulgur wheat salad

Some kind of cold puff pastry tart cut into squares (could buy this?). I'm imagining a sort of open tart with tomatoes or caramelised onions and goats cheese or feta, that sort of thing

Cheese/olives/charcuterie/nice bread

I'd also like an easy to eat protein that can be cold and was thinking maybe some chicken drumsticks. Worried they can be a bit gelatinous/unappetising cold? We usually eat them when they are super crispy and too hot to hold. Any recipes for chicken drumsticks that are good when cold would very welcome, or alternative protein ideas?

Would another salad be needed? Potato? Green?

Maybe crisps and a homemade dip?

I might be over thinking the whole thing and should just order takeaway pizza 😂

Open tart is my fave serving, I usually do tomato paste + pesto for the base and then feta cheese and red onions on top. For the protein I prefer to go ham if I've got the time to prep it:

This is my fave recipe, it always comes out well and it's delicious cold too.

This stunning gammon joint glazed with fruity marmalade and sticky honey is great for feeding a crowd.

All sounds lovely apart from the cold chicken drumsticks.
I would do a ham (can buy one) or some flavoured sliced chicken

Coronation chicken? That's a very 'British' dish, and ideal if your visitor is from overseas. I'd also do some potato salad, green salad and a Victoria sponge cake.

Your menu sounds delicious!

Couple of bags of leaves and a punnet of cherry tomatoes. Super easy.

Cold roast beef for protein? You’d have time to cook a small joint and cool it. It can be sliced when people arrive if needs be.
