She doesn't live in London. Was it because she was arrested in London?

Mindless wondering really. Why there? I'm not really posting to discus her. Just the location choice.

Nearest Court ?
most appropriate Court ?
the Court with soonest availability ?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 09/08/2024 14:18

It's relating to insolvency, isn't it?

Jigsawpuzzled · 09/08/2024 14:18

I believe because it relates to bankruptcy and that is the court who declared it. Its been decades since I worked in that specialism but then all the work went to the RCJ.

Notacottish · 09/08/2024 14:18

That will be the venue of the specialist bankruptcy court that is hearing her case. It will probably have been filed there rather than a court local to her.

Courts closed for summer, so able to take urgent or overspill cases that would otherwise go elsewhere, is my guess. My OH is due in court soon as the claimant in a small claims matter worth about £300 - that's been sent to the RCJ too.

Ok that would make sense. I didn't know it held criminal cases.

It's lovely inside. In the main part.

Google is my friend.

Outside the Rolls Building there are seven Business and Property Courts District Registries. The B&PC District Registries are located at Court centres in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The additional three Chancery District Registries were Preston, Mold and Caernarfon. Chancery business outside London is divided into two broad geographical areas each with a supervising High Court Judge, one comprising the Midlands, Western and Wales Circuits and the other the Northern and North Eastern Circuits.

That's why. Insolvency-related hearing in the appropriate location.

Thanks did try to Google but obviously not hard enough to get the right answer. Thank you.

I have actually done two SEN tribunals there pre covid and I just incorrectly thought it only heard certain types of cases. Weird that you see it on the news all the time, been there for hearings but never fully understood its use. It was quite overwhelming going there. But my hearings was in the not so nice annex.

My brain interpreted the thread title as referring to her suitcase, lol! I knew she was arrested at the airport so it made sense she would have a case with her. I didn't get much sleep last night Grin

To be fair I'm dyslexic and most of my written word makes very little sense even to me when I read it back 😁
