What a shit day…

Today has been a pretty shitty day tbh, it’s started off all right but went all down hill from about 5.
my collegue who I’ve worked closely with the last 11 years, his partner had a brain aneurysm whilst she was out with thier daughters. The kids are basically the same age as mine. She’s only around 41/42.. she’s a very lovely lady they’ve been together since they were 16. He called me as we are without a manager at present and I’m fairly senior and also the closest to him. I can’t imagine what he’s going through, although he has good English it’s not all there yet. Our ex manager is his best friend and from the same country so he’s been helping him and came to my house to update me, I’ve been messaging area managers etc to let them know. on top of that we had a power cut, DS is autistic and of course with no access to his tech was climbing the walls (4g for some reason didn’t work for a while either, him and dd were arguing about random stuff, DP is currently away looking after his father who had 2 heart attacks last week. Isn’t due back until next week, been away for 2 weeks already . And to top it off the weather has been shit. I’m mentally shattered as I’ve been working 6 days straight as of Saturday and trying to keep kids occupied whilst dealing with personal medical conditions and a raging toothache. I’ve got everything crossed for my friend and his family and hoping his partner comes out of the other side of this.
anyone else had a shit day?

Poor you. It sounds awful. Situations like that are good wake up calls to remind ourselves that we should appreciate every day.

Can’t say my day has been as bad as yours, but I had raging toothache a couple of weeks ago and can seriously recommend Orajel to numb the pain. Amazon sell it, so you could order tonight for delivery tomorrow?

Hope things get easier…

I already have Orajel… been takin panadol extra, they are friggin amazing. Paracetamol don’t usually do anything but I found this does the trick 😞

Sorry you're having a hard time. I think ibuprofen is better than paracetamol for toothache, and there's a numbing fluid you can buy at the pharmacy. Toothache's the worst. I haven't really had a terrible day but I've been a bit upset. I decided I wanted to try and write a novel a few weeks ago, and spent a lot of time and effort, then it's just hit me my ideas been done before ! A major famous movie ! I feel so stupid

I'm sorry to hear about your friends wife & your FIL and very sorry to hear you have so much to deal with!!

I hope you can get the toothache problem resolved soon & the power issue is sorted quickly!

take all the drugs you can for your tooth, but check the dose of the Panadol extra & make sure you're not taking too much in a 24hr period. You don't need to be adding in an accidental overdose!!

Thank you… I only take them twice a day max as I alternate between them and nurofen as needed. I only just took some tonight as the pain got too unbearable. I’ve had this same problem with a different tooth back in March. So a pro at this point. I don’t take painkillers unless absolutely necessary.

Yeah - shit day here too. I had some quite significant fraudulent activity on an online account and I can't prove I'm not at fault as it appears my account history with the retailer has been wiped.
I had back-to-back meetings 9-3, one of which was way out of my comfort zone and had 6 other people in who are all a profession which I am not. This meeting went on for 2 hours and got nowhere.
I went straight from that meeting to one with my manager and just burst into tears which is ridiculous. I never cry (last time I cried was when I was told that my son had a tumour in his jaw 2 years ago) and I've never cried at work.

I need my annual leave to come round very quickly.

@VivienneDelacroix oh I hate fraud. Wish they'd just fuck off.

Concerned about health issues, family issues (dying parent) and new laptop and phone, just synching everything and sweating like a piglet in case I bugger it up

johann12 · 09/08/2024 01:00

@VivienneDelacroix was it ebay ? I just had £30 stolen from my card saved on the site, and it's happened to my sister too
