My dog, caught me with his claw earlier, its was only a small catch, but its tracking a little bit red, when does it need a tetanus injection?

If you can get to one, ask a pharmacist.

Any sort of injury that breaks the skin is going to cause a slight inflammation response, it’s how long it lasts for that can give information.

But with tetanus, waiting to find out can lead to trouble.

Thank you, obviously it is small, but did puncher the skin!

If you have had a tetanus booster in the last 10 years you should be covered.

If it’s tracking, then you may need antibiotics as it could be cellulitis. Worth getting it checked by gp or pharmacist.

I was badly scratched by a cat a couple of years ago, I work at a GP surgery so showed it to the nurse and she said current advice is that if your jabs were all done at the appropriate time then a tetanus vaccine isn’t routinely needed. My injury looked like I’d been assaulted, it was awful but the nurse wasn’t concerned.

That looks like a normal dog scratch. Doesn't look like it's tracking at all. Just wash it.
