Date night ideas that are dress & heels appropriate!

DP and I rarely go out for ‘date nights’ so looking to plan an evening out for us before the real cold weather and dark nights return…

I have a beautiful LBD which I’m desperate to FINALLY wear. It comes just above the knee in length and looks fab with a pair of heels. It’s quite dressy despite not being long, but where could we go in order for me to get to wear this outfit?! Too dressy for a restaurant, even quite expensive restaurants these days I’ve noticed people seem to dress down rather than dress up?

We do not drink so a bar is out of the question.

Ideas welcome!

I'd say black dresses are very dated these days. So I've no idea.

Maybe theatre?
Tbh With heels I think it does sound a dated.

It'd be fine in a restaurant.

Ummm Opera, upmarket cocktail bar?
At 55 I've now taken taken to wearing ridiculously glamorous dresses whenever I go out.
DH is a tad bemused as we are completely unmatched but to be fair goes along with it.

I mainly live in wellies.

My favourite place to go is my mums dementia care home, the residents love it and it seems to amuse the staff Grin

There is nothing wrong with a LBD and heels if they make you feel good OP!

And wear them wherever you like! Nice restaurant, theatre, concert, art gallery?

Choose a better quality restaurant.

Cocktail bar.

Restaurant with jazz musicians.

I don't drink and go to bars, I just have a non alcoholic drink. I would suggest a classy wine bar or cocktail bar, theatre, nice restaurant.

mitogoshi · 08/08/2024 18:46

The only time I see them now is on New Year's Eve, oh and on cruise ships, the posher ones. That said I wear a lbd with Doc Martens regularly to my local live music pub, reliving my black era Grin. You don't need to drink to go to bars, most have fairly extensive non alcoholic ranges now, when I'm driving I've been drinking non alcoholic cider recently
