Applying for Belgian citizenship

My mother was born in Belgium and I’m trying to see if I can apply for Belgian citizenship by descent.

I’ve spent time researching this online and fell down a rabbit hole of various different companies offering help (at huge expense I imagine).

Does anyone know the easiest way of doing this please? I was born in 1972 and my mother was born in 1932, from what I can see, I am eligible.

Most companies offering that kind of thing are a con. Surely it will be better to just proceed based on the government website
