Just found this message on my NHS App when checking on something else. There was no notification to say it was there. I am waiting for a referral. Am trying to get through to the phone number but no-one answering. I have removed all identifying info.

"The clinic has arranged an appointment for your referral. You need to contact them to find out the date and time.

Call them on XXXXXXXXX.

Your clinic details
Clinic
XXXXX NOT FOR PATIENT ATTENDANCE

Clinic type
This is a face to face clinic

Location
XXXXXXX HOSPITAL

Address
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

IMPORTANT – Please be advised that you do not need to attend this appointment. This is not an actual appointment but for administration purposes only. You will be contacted by the hospital to arrange your appointment, or with further information."

So it's a face to face clinic but I don't need to attend. I need to contact them for an appointment but it's not an actual appointment but for admin purposes only? No wonder the NHS is in such a state.

I had similar a while back but with a letter. It stated an appointment booked at 23.59. When I managed to speak to someone they said it's an admin thing for them to know to book an appointment!

Yes it’s an admin thing. You speak to them and get all excited that you’re getting a clinic appointment only to be told that there are no appointments and that they will contact you when they have an appointment. From bitter repeated experience

I had half a dozen emails telling me to check my app. for my appointment. The trouble was, the access code they gave me kept coming up as "invalid". When I rang them, they said "oh yes, it's not working".

This seems crazy.

(I also wish the NHS app would say who its text messages are for, as I manage them for both my parents and my daughter as well as myself. So I find myself guessing which account to login for.)
