Thank you so much for giving your time and energy yesterday. You showed that racist thugs are totally outnumbered by normal decent people. You are heroes

I agree.. and also thank you to the Iman who took food to the right-wingers and invited the back to talk.. amazing!

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2024 08:42

Yes, thank you for those of us who couldn't attend!

FinallyMovingHouse · 08/08/2024 08:45

Agree wholeheartedly. I'm not near to any of the protests but have been disgusted by the behaviour shown to people who live in this country. Thanks so much for showing them that the rest of us are not thugs!

theduchessofspork · 08/08/2024 08:46

Nice idea op. Thanks to everyone who is showing up.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 08/08/2024 08:46

CAN you tell me where to get one of the pink and yellow signs that everyone seems to have?

twopercent · 08/08/2024 08:59

The pink and yellow signs were great, but I do think the people who turned up with their own handmade signs were amazing, however crude and quickly put together the signs were

I would like to thank everyone, too, and you, OP for starting this post.

Decency and love prevailed yesterday, thank goodness.

When I went online to check what was going on with the riots last night, after hesitating, because I was thinking it was going to be dreadful, it was just reporting about peaceful protests, and I must admit I shed a tear.

Some genuinely good news in a very frightening world.
it gave me hope for humanity.

I heard about the Iman doing that, but haven't seen any coverage. Does anyone know where abouts that happened?

LaurieFairyCake · 08/08/2024 09:02

Thank you to all the brave people who took their families out to this

Who 'guarded' the refugee centres

I proper welled up at the sight of the thousands In Walthamstow who turned out FlowersFlowersFlowers

And thanks to the police too for being amazing during all of this

I particularly loved the comment from a copper who said to the anti-fascists guarding a refugee centre 'you can all go home now, it's just you here' Flowers

Abhannmor · 08/08/2024 09:06

My favourite sign was held by a happy young chap and it said ' But I like boats'
Tickled me.

Iknowjadon · 08/08/2024 09:09

I can't stop grinning today, so wonderful

Lexigone · 08/08/2024 09:11

Most people are good.

LadyKenya · 08/08/2024 09:18

Very heartwarming to see all the people out, opposing what has been happening.

GalacticalFarce · 08/08/2024 09:20

Restored my faith in humanity when things seemed so bleak.

Well done Westcliff on Sea ! 💐

DoorOpening · 08/08/2024 09:34

The “Nans against Nazis” sign was a good one.

I don’t think this issue is a simple one, but so good to show there are other voices besides the most virulent hateful ones.

jennylamb1 · 08/08/2024 09:41

It was hugely stirring watching enormous numbers of ordinary people standing together in solidarity against hatred, racism and the attempts of a small minority to intimidate. Oswald Mosley and fascist black shirts tried the same in the 1920s and 1930s and it's good to see the population standing against it still a century later.

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/08/2024 09:43

Wonderful to see. It’s all been so bleak but this feels like a turning point.

Cornettoninja · 08/08/2024 10:00

Well done to all who turned out, much needed after such a terrible couple of weeks.

allyjay · 08/08/2024 10:26

First time I've not felt depressed about it all in well over a week, thank you to the courageous people who took part

I believe it was Liverpool Mosque. Incredibly brave thing to do.

Mischance · 08/08/2024 10:31

I feel proud of those who have made their voices heard against this evil that has come upon us.

I have 7 DGC and I know they too will have taken heart from this. It is them, and people like them, who will take this country forward in decency.
