Ed Ball interviews Yvette Cooper - all a bit negotiator or professional?

Ed Balls grilled Yvetter Cooper on the riots occuring today for ITV.
Probably a banal interview but was he ever likely to ask hard hitting questions?

Apparently he had genuine questions as his wife obviously had been busy but couldn't ITV get someone else to ask the questions?

(Mind you the way she was staring stony faced at the camera made me feel a bit sorry for Ed)

I can't believe the producers thought it was remotely appropriate. Also, look at how he interviewed the old Home Secretary a few months ago; it reminded me of the Trump/Obama mash-up announcing the deaths of Bin Laden and the other bloke, just so different.

Didn't seem to be a problem on the BBC with Laura Kenny interviewing Jason Kenny yesterday.

Yes but the Home Secretary has a lot on her plate so did she choose an interviewer who may be a little less forensic or hostile (or the spare bed awaits)?
